Ileigh Kuga

Ileigh is a graduate of The University of Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. During her time at UF, she was a member of the Mock Trial team, The litiGATORS, Tau Sigma honor society and Delta Zeta sorority. She received her paralegal certification from Duke University and is a North Carolina Bar Certified Paralegal, as well as a current North Carolina Notary Public. Ileigh is the Beer Law Center Paralegal and works closely alongside Attorney Szymankiewicz.

Jammie Lynn Wacenske

Ever since she was a child, Jammie has always wanted to become an attorney. Over the years of watching her peers suffer through divorce, abuse, and neglect, she quickly became interested in pursuing a career in family law. Driven by her determination to help families and those in need, she began her collegiate career at Nash Community College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. During her time at NCC, she was the Parliamentarian for the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society and she was chosen by staff and faculty to represent the school at the Student Leadership Institute. In addition to participating in these activities, she made time in her studies to work three jobs while attending NCC. After completing the College Transfer program at Nash Community College, she attended North Carolina Wesleyan College where she graduated Cum Laude and received her B.A. in History with a minor in Political Science. While at NCWC she developed a passion for political science and joined the political science honor society, Pi Sigma Alpha. In her final semester, her dreams became a reality when she was accepted into North Carolina Central University School of law. At NCCU, she continued to be an active participant in campus activities. She was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society, but devoted most of her time to the Pro Bono program which allowed her to help people who were less fortunate and in need of legal assistance. She participated in the Elder Law Project where she was able to gain experience writing wills for clients and the Lawyer on the Line Project where she assisted Legal Aid by providing clients with legal guidance as to how to handle their landlord-tenant matters. Jammie closed out her final year at law school through an externship with the Honorable Lori G. Christian of the Wake County Family Court writing pro se orders. Jammie is the oldest of six children. She has two sisters and three brothers and visits her family as often as possible. She has a passion for music and knows how to play the French Horn, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, and the Flute. In her spare time, she enjoys learning how to paint, sew, and knit with her friends.

John R. Szymankiewicz - CEO

John Szymankiewicz is a licensed professional engineer and attorney in North Carolina. Em barking on a second career, John went to law school at night while juggling a demanding full-time job, a family, and teaching at a local martial arts school. Seeing the need for experienced attorneys who are focused on their client's needs, John launched his own law firm in 2010. Since then, his practice has focused on developing ongoing relationships, becoming a business partner with clients instead of being merely a supplier of services. He has earned the trust and respect of entrepreneurs and growing businesses by serving as a collaborator in his client's efforts to be successful. John joined the Matheson & Associates in 2014. John is a distinguished member of the board of directors for the Wake County Bar Association, which recently presented him with the President's Award for his services to the Wake County Legal Community. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and serves on the Council of the Solo, Small Firm, and General Practice Section. In addition to the North Carolina and Wake County Bar Associations, he is also a member of the 10th Judicial District Bar and the American Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in all of North Carolina State Courts, the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina's Federal and Bankruptcy Courts, and the United States Supreme Court. John has been featured in Attorney at Law Magazine (Triangle Edition), the Raleigh News & Observer, and the Triangle Business Journal. In addition to his legal training, John brings experience from nearly 15 years of operations, processing engineering, and project management in the food and pharmaceutical industries. John has worked in quality and compliance, engineering, manufacturing, and R&D. John received his JD from North Carolina Central University and also holds an MBA and a BS in Chemical Engineering.

London Davenport

London graduated from Meredith College in 2017 before going on to attend Campbell Law School where she will graduate in May 2020. At Campbell Law School, Ms. Davenport is Vice President of Women In Law and is a Student Bar Association representative for the 3L class. She joined the Beer Law Center as a Law Clerk in February 2019.

Nina Emerick

Nina received her Bachelor's Degree from The University of North Carolina - Greensboro in Criminology and her Paralegal Certification from The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She spent 2 years working as a criminal defense and family law paralegal before enlisting in the Army. During her time with the U.S. Army she worked with victims and Special Victims Prosecution. She is currently the family law and civil litigation paralegal and works alongside Attorney Wacenske.

Renata Rabelo

Renata joined Matheson & Associates in January of 2019 as the criminal defense paralegal. Ms Rabelo is originally from Brazil where she obtained her J.D. and worked as an attorney. After moving to the United States, Renata earned her paralegal studies certificate from the University of California, Irvine. Ms. Rabelo is looking forward to pursuing her paralegal certification and is looking to attend law school in the hopes to become a licensed attorney in the United States.

Sarah Brooks

Sarah is a Florida native who joined Matheson & Associates PLLC in 2016. Ms. Brooks earned her Bachelors of Arts in Education from the University of North Florida and her Masters in Educational Leadership from The Florida State University. Prior to joining Matheson & Associates, Sarah taught 3rd and 5th grade in Florida and North Carolina. In addition to teaching young children, Sarah worked with the Department of Juvenile Justice in Florida where she taught reading and writing skills to young adults who were serving sentences in the Juvenile Detention Center. Sarah is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and is on the Community Outreach Committee. In her spare time, Sarah proudly supports the Florida State Seminoles, spending her weekends at the beach (when it's warm) and spending time with her niece and nephew!

Xochitl Ferrer

Xochitl is originally from Guanajuato, Mexico but spent most of her life in North Carolina. Prior to joining Matheson & Associates, she worked as a receptionist in a small law firm in the town of Carthage, NC where she gained valuable experience. This job led her to move into the "big city" of Raleigh to further expand her horizons where she found herself with the perfect law firm that is more than willing to coach and develop. In her spare time Xochitl enjoys spending time with her family and adorable dog Remy.
