Charlie Massin, president of The Frank Massin Agency, was seven years old when his father, Frank Massin, brought home a new business. He'd just bought an insurance agency which fit neatly in a single cardboard box - all told, about 100 policies including many of the family farms that stretched from Amherst to Hollis.
The farms are long gone, but The Frank Massin Agency remains a player in the local independent insurance market. The primary office is housed in a beautiful historic colonial house in Fitzwilliam. The staff has expanded beyond Frank and his wife Liz, to include a staff of 6. In 1968, the Massins bought the Fortin Agency in Greenville, kept the name, and moved it to New Ipswich in 2010.
The agency continues to be very much a family business. Liz Massin was still working full-time at the agency in 2011, before her death at the age of 84. Frank had passed away in 1991. Their son Charlie, has been in the insurance industry for over 43 years. And, in 2016, the Agency welcomed the third generation of Massins, with the addition of daughter, Sarah Massin Short.
