Ana Ines Figueroa

Born and educated in Salta, Argentina. A Certified Fitness Instructor, horsewoman and hiker; she developed a passion for travel while visiting Europe, Africa and the wonders of South America. Training for travel happened in the field, working as a guide and trip designer for many legendary international adventure and luxury travel companies. The research to write in both Spanish and English the texts for five photographic books provided a solid knowledge about Argentina and South America. She is also a speaker at many travel events focusing on the relationship between local communities and the adventure travel world. She has provided training to Andean communities for them to create their own products and work with the tourism industry.

Andrew Zimakas

Andrew leads Product Management at Medcan and, in collaboration with the broader team, is responsible for revenue generation and client engagement. In this capacity he also oversees Sales, Client Success, and Corporate Sales & Account Management. Andrew has 30 years of tier one operating and consulting experience in a range of industry sectors, including Health & Wellness, Loyalty & Analytics, Financial Services, Technology & Media, and Consumer Packaged Goods. He has held both general management roles and senior functional positions in Sales, Marketing and Corporate Strategy. Most recently, he was the CEO of a leading digital wellness engagement platform used by progressive companies to improve the wellbeing of their employees and their business. Andrew has lectured at the University of Toronto and York University, has served on a number of non-profit boards and committees, and is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for volunteering contributions to Canada. He holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and Bachelor of Commerce from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.

Bronwen Evans

Bronwen Evans is the Chief Corporate Services and Talent Officer at Medcan with executive oversight all Talent functions, including recruitment, development and retention, and championing the company's values in order to foster an engaged high-performing workforce. Ms. Evans also leads Internal Communications and Medcan's Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy. Bronwen is a Founding Director of the True Patriot Love Foundation (TPL), which was established in 2009. She served as its first CEO from 2012 to 2019, raising more than $38 million to support 25,000 Canadian military and veteran families and 750 programs in the areas of mental health, physical rehabilitation, children with special needs and research. During Ms. Evans' tenure TPL successfully spearheaded expeditions to the Himalayas, North Pole, Antarctica and across Canada, partnering prominent business leaders with wounded veterans. Ms. Evans herself participated in the climb to Everest Basecamp and on the canoe trip of the Keele and Mackenzie rivers (NWT). Ms. Evans also led the successful bid and raised the required $10 million in seed funding to secure Prince Harry's Invictus Games for Toronto in 2017. Before her role with TPL, Ms. Evans was the Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Medcan Health Management, the largest executive health clinic in North America, where she became the company's first Chief Privacy Officer. Prior to joining Medcan, Ms. Evans successfully ran her own communications and public affairs consulting firm for five years with a roster of clients from the energy, healthcare, legal, and government sectors. Prior to her time in business, Ms. Evans was the Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Finance, Jim Flaherty, where she advised on taxation and spending policies while leading the development and communication of the 2001 Provincial Budget. In addition, Ms. Evans served as Chief of Staff to the Attorney General, and a senior advisor to the Minister of Community and Social Services, and the Minister of Health. Ms. Evans currently serves as a Director on the board of Cronos Group, and is the Chair of Kingsway College School. She previously served as a Director on the boards of the National Ballet of Canada, the 2016 Orlando Invictus Games, The Canadian Club, Youth Without Shelter and Sci-Tech Ontario. Ms. Evans is a recipient of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012), which honours significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. Ms. Evans holds Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (with Honours) from McGill University, and a Master of Arts in Philosophy with a concentration in Biomedical Ethics from Carleton University.

David Ritchie

David joined Medcan in 2019 to lead the Corporate Sales and Account Management function. He is primarily focused on developing enterprise relationships and delivering value through health and wellness solutions. Most recently, David was the Chief Financial Officer at Newtopia, a health technology company focused on disease prevention. Prior to that, he spent 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry with global companies including Wyeth, Allergan and Eisai. David is a Chartered Accountant (CPA,CA) and began his career at KPMG.

Dr. Peter Nord

Dr. Nord was, prior to becoming CMO at Medcan, a V.P., CMO at Unity Health Toronto, serving on the executive team, with shared accountability for clinical and operational aspects of the new merged organization. He was Site Lead for Providence Healthcare, with operational oversight of Laboratory, Pharmacy, Diagnostic Imaging, Risk Management, Quality & Safety, Outpatient Services, Infection Control and all Physician Staff oversight and support. He also had accountability for Academics and Research. He is the founder of Stillbrook Accessible Retirement Residences, Inc., a registered charity focused on developing affordable retirement living communities for lower socioeconomic frail seniors across Ontario. He co-chairs the Rehabilitative Care Alliance, accountable for improving the quality and efficiency of Ontario's rehabilitation sector. He is also the provincial Physician Champion for ALC through the Cancer Care Ontario/Access To Care, and a key thought-leader in the area of improving patient flow and reducing "Hallway Healthcare". As such, he is a member of the Premier's Council on Improving Healthcare in Ontario. Since 2004, Dr. Nord was the Attending Physician for a 35 patient Stroke/Neuro Rehabilitation Unit within Providence Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, involved with teaching and research activities, and holds his FCFP designation. Dr. Nord trained at McMaster University and the University of Toronto. He went on to hold senior leadership positions in the US with several health systems and was Medical Director for Anthem BlueCross for a number of years. From 1998 to 2000 he was also the President of The Flying Hospital, an international humanitarian relief organization, bringing care to vulnerable populations in third world regions.

Meenu Sahi

Meenu has dedicated over 15 years at Medcan in numerous roles. She is currently responsible for overseeing the patient support centre and involved in product development (commercialization of the patient support centre) and execution. She's worked on a diverse portfolio of projects including the wellness and fitness teams as well as clinical research, women's health programming, expedited assessment, coaching, case management and medical industry. She is a member of the physician leadership team and actively involved in physician recruitment, on-going management and mentorship. Meenu has been an active member of the leadership team for the past decade and has worked with leaders of cross functional teams to drive corporate goals and objectives. Her previous roles included managing over 100 colleagues, including eight managers and directors, and overseeing the entire clinic operations from valet to clinical staff. She was the project lead for the space expansion and renovations; and successfully completed a large multi-floor renovation project.

Mike Seliga

Mike is accountable for expanding Medcan's geographic presence beyond 150 York. He recently led the successful development and launch of our Oakville clinic and is leading our efforts for further major growth/expansion opportunities. Mike has over 30 years of business development, risk, product marketing and operations experience. During his time at Medcan, Mike has held various senior management positions and introduced new Medcan services and managed clinic operations. As our Chief Risk Officer he initiated and developed our enterprise risk structure. He has also led our corporate accounts management team. Prior to Medcan, Mike had leadership roles in the life and health insurance industry.

Neil Mahon - CIO

Neil leads Information Technology, Digital Technology transformation and Data & Analytics teams at Medcan along with responsibility for Cyber Security. His role is focused on establishing Medcan as a leader in digital health services. Neil is an accomplished IT executive and consultant, and brings a wealth of experience in IT management, digital transformation and cyber security initiatives from within the Healthcare, Pharma and Manufacturing sectors. He has led overall IT strategic planning and systems implementation for some of the largest Healthcare businesses in Canada focused around digital transformation to enhance consumer experiences. Prior to joining Medcan, he ran his own consulting business servicing a roster of Healthcare and Pharma clients and led a Cyber remediation program for a major Canadian medical services company. He has also held a number of progressive positions with a large Pharma and Chemicals manufacturing business leading the IT teams supporting operations throughout EMEA and APAC. Neil currently sits on the Board and is a member of the Finance committee of 360 Kids, a non-profit organization focused on servicing homeless and at-risk youth. He holds an MSc from the Kemmy Business School at University of Limerick, Ireland.

Paul Trudel

Paul has been serving in the Canadian Armed Forces for over 26 years in the medical field; the past 6 as a Physician assistant. The majority of his career involves medical planning and support for combat troops with extensive experience in the treatment of casualties in remote environments. Paul is an avid outdoor adventurer and has over 20 years of climbing experience and summited peaks in New Zealand, Afghanistan, and many regions in North America. Along with his experience in trauma and Primary Care, He is qualified as a Mountain Operations Instructor, is Advanced Wilderness Life Support certified, and holds a Diploma in Mountain Medicine. He is an advisor and instructor on Altitude Medicine for climbing teams with in his current unit. Together with Rob, he will ensure everyone remains in good condition to complete the trekking and paddling Adventure in Patagonia.

Rob Turner

Rob has been a professional fitness trainer for over 15 years; the last 8 of which have been with Medcan. He is the creator and Program Director of the Medcan Power Project, an athletic mentorship program for underprivileged youth in the GTA. Rob is also a volunteer for the Medcan Naweza Initiative and visited Africa in July 2015 to assist in musculoskeletal education and treatment in several Kenyan communities. An avid adventure traveler and surfer, Rob has braved the waves of several epic surf destinations including Australia, Bali, Japan and Costa Rica. As the coordinator of the Kickstart Program he has been the team lead on each successful summit of Kilimanjaro in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 respectively. Rob's goal for all Kickstart adventures (Patagonia), is to build a solid, cohesive team and prepare everyone both mentally and physically for the task at hand to ensure that all team members have a safe and life changing experience … together.

Shaun Francis - CEO, Chairman

Shaun Francis is the Chair and CEO of Medcan, with headquarters in Toronto. Established more than 30 years ago, Medcan is a global leader in assessing their clients' overall well-being and inspiring them to live well for life. In 2018 Medcan was recognized for overall business performance and sustained growth with the prestigious Canada's Best Managed Companies designation, presented by Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business, TMX Group and MacKay CEO Forums and published by The National Post. This marks Medcan's eighth year on the list and the second in the coveted Platinum status. Medcan joins a select group of Canadian companies that are noted for fearless leadership, a culture of teamwork, and a relentless focus on innovation. Previously, Shaun was the Executive Chair of New York City's EHE, the recognized American leader in preventive medicine, and one of the founding employees and Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Dallas-based Broadlane, Inc., a leading business process outsourcer for more than 900 American hospitals. In 2010, Broadlane was sold to MedAssets for US$850MM. Prior to joining Broadlane, Shaun worked for Morgan Stanley's New York and Toronto investment banking divisions where he managed equity, debt and mergers and acquisitions transactions. Shaun serves on the board of the Fraser Institute and is the Chair of the True Patriot Love Foundation, which he founded to benefit Canada's military families. He previously served on the boards of the Invictus Games Canada, which he collaborated with the Royal Foundation to bring to Toronto; the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR); Toronto Pearson Airport; Upper Canada College; and he was the Chair of both the Ontario Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) and the PC Ontario Fund. In 2013, he was asked by Canada's Minister of Veterans Affairs to Chair the Veteran Transition Advisory Council (VTAC). The Council was comprised of Canadian business leaders and assisted the Minister in drafting strategic recommendations for the transition of service personnel to the private sector. The Globe and Mail featured Shaun as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 in 2008, when he selected by a national panel. In 2010, Canada's Chief of Defence Staff, General Walter Natynczyk, awarded Shaun the Canadian Forces Medallion for Distinguished Service, the military's highest recognition for a civilian. In 2015 he was recognized by Toronto's Junior Achievement chapter with their Bold Thinkers Inspiring Leaders award for taking risks and challenging convention. In 2016 he was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross by Canada's Governor General. In 2018 Shaun received the Fraser Institute Founders' Award, which is presented annually to individuals in recognition of their exceptional entrepreneurial achievements, generous philanthropic endeavors and dedication to competitive markets. Shaun enjoys endurance sports and in 2012 co-led an expedition to Everest Base Camp and the summit of Island Peak, a 6,189-metre Himalayan Peak adjacent to Mount Everest. The expedition featured 12 injured Canadian soldiers raising funds and awareness for the True Patriot Love Foundation and injured veterans. It was the subject of a national prime time documentary named March to the Top airing on the CBC in February 2013. In 2014 Shaun co-led another True Patriot Love Expedition to the Magnetic North Pole, which was also the subject of a national prime time documentary on the History Channel. In 2017 Shaun completed his third True Patriot Love Expedition retracing the route of Canadian explorer George Douglas in the Northwest Territories to celebrate Canada's 150 th anniversary as a nation.
