Chris B. Bartlett - COO

Chris B. Bartlett is the Chief Operating Officer at Milestone where he is responsible for structuring and executing the firm's investment capitalization strategy including debt, equity and structured finance for asset acquisitions and the firm's M&A activities. Additionally, Mr. Bartlett is responsible for the firm's portfolio management activities including generating overall portfolio strategy to maximize risk-adjusted returns for the firm's private equity real estate funds and separate account vehicles. Since joining Milestone's investment team in 2012, the firm has executed over $8 billion of real estate transactions including asset, portfolio and corporate acquisitions and dispositions, generating industry-leading returns. Mr. Bartlett has spent his career in various roles within private equity real estate including acquisitions, portfolio management, and finance. Prior to joining Milestone, Mr. Bartlett worked in acquisitions for Vaerus, a California-based private equity firm, where he was responsible for acquiring distressed real estate in the wake of the global financial crisis. Mr. Bartlett graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University where he received a B.A. in Business Administration and Finance.

Emma McCartney

Emma McCartney is an Asset Management Analyst at The Milestone Group. She is responsible for supporting Milestone's Asset Management team through implementing property business plans, monitoring capital improvement projects, and evaluating asset operations and performance. Prior to joining Milestone, Ms. McCartney spent four years at CBRE as a Senior Valuation Associate where she was responsible for the valuations of multifamily assets within the Texas region. During her time at CBRE, Ms. McCartney focused on determining the market value of land and existing & proposed multifamily developments through the appraisal process. Ms. McCartney received her BBA in Marketing from The University of Oklahoma in 2016.

James B. Duey

James B. Duey leads Milestone's acquisition activities in Texas and the Southwestern United States. He is responsible for identifying, underwriting and negotiating asset and portfolio acquisitions. Over the past nearly 20 years, Mr. Duey has acquired over 18,000 multifamily units, representing approximately $2 billion of real estate investments for the firm. Prior to leading Milestone's acquisition activities, Mr. Duey was the Director of Capital Services for Milestone and was responsible for managing the firm's capital enhancement and value-add strategy. Prior to joining Milestone, Mr. Duey served at Insignia Financial Group, an early leader in distressed real estate investing, for nine years, serving in Insignia's acquisitions team where he acquired over $700 million of multifamily investments. Mr. Duey graduated from Baylor University in 1988 where he received his B.A. in Business Administration.

Jason Wise

Based in Milestone's Atlanta office, Jason Wise leads the firm's acquisition activities in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. He is responsible for identifying, underwriting and negotiating asset and portfolio acquisitions and has been involved in over $3 billion of transactions since joining the firm in 2013. Prior to joining Milestone, Mr. Wise was Director of Acquisitions and Dispositions for Centennial Holding Company where he was responsible for the sourcing and underwriting of multifamily transactions throughout the Southeast and Texas. During his time at Centennial, Mr. Wise was involved in approximately $570 million in total transaction volume. Prior to joining Centennial, Mr. Wise was a member of the investment team for American Realty Advisors where he was involved in the closing of nearly $300 million in transactions which included multifamily, retail and industrial properties.

Jeffrey L. Goldberg - CEO

Jeffrey L. Goldberg is a Co-Managing Partner of The Milestone Group and Co-Chairman of Milestone's Investment Committee. Mr. Goldberg has over 35 years of experience in the real estate industry. Mr. Goldberg focuses on the strategic direction, acquisitions and asset management activities of the Company. Prior to the formation of Milestone in 2003, Mr. Goldberg was a Managing Director of Insignia Financial Group, a leading early investor in distressed real estate, where he was responsible for all workouts, restructurings and recapitalizations. He also led the company's principal investing activities. From 1996 through 2003, as head of Insignia's Co-Investment Group, Mr. Goldberg was responsible for all principal activities, including co-investment joint venture acquisitions, tender offers and portfolio purchases. The Co-Investment Group was responsible for nearly $1.9 billion of transactions throughout the U.S. and the UK. From 1991 to 1996, Mr. Goldberg headed Insignia's asset management department, during which time his group completed over 130 transactions and restructurings. In July 2003, Insignia was acquired by CB Richard Ellis. Mr. Goldberg received a B.S. and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Goldberg serves on the Board of the University of Pennsylvania General Alumni Society and is a current board member of the National Multi Housing Council and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

John Houston

John Houston is an Acquisitions Analyst in The Milestone Group's Atlanta office where he supports the identifying, underwriting, and due diligence of the firm's investments in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic markets. Prior to joining Milestone in July 2021, Mr.Houston spent 3 years as an Associate in Cushman & Wakefield's Diligence Advisory Group where he underwrote over $900 million in multifamily debt originations on behalf of clients that included balance-sheet lenders, government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs), and various other debt stakeholders. In addition, Mr. Houston gained significant exposure to asset screening and property-level financial analysis while evaluating existing multifamily debt pools for securitization. Prior to his time at Cushman, Mr. Houston was a Multifamily Research Analyst at CoStar Group where he tracked market activity across major Sunbelt markets. Mr. Houston earned a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi. During his time at Ole Miss, he worked multiple internships assisting brokerage, marketing, and research operations at Cushman & Wakefield | Cornerstone in Nashville, TN. Outside of professional endeavors, Mr. Houston is an active member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association and enjoys running, golfing, and exploring the Georgia outdoors.

John R. Ascenzo - Chief Legal Officer

John R. Ascenzo is General Counsel of Milestone. He is responsible for all legal matters for Milestone including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, compliance, corporate policy initiatives and general corporate counsel. In addition, Mr. Ascenzo is responsible for supervising outside counsel in Milestone's various transactions and legal proceedings. Mr. Ascenzo has spent his career practicing corporate transactional law, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and real estate. Mr. Ascenzo was with Vinson & Elkins LLP for approximately six years representing buyers and sellers in domestic and international merger and acquisition transactions across a variety of industries, representing private equity funds and investors in private equity investment, joint ventures and recapitalization transactions, and representing other clients on a variety of general corporate matters. Before joining Vinson & Elkins LLP, Mr. Ascenzo was an associate attorney with the law firm of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP. Mr. Ascenzo is admitted to practice law in Texas and North Carolina and is a member of the Dallas Bar Association. Mr. Ascenzo graduated from the University of Virginia (B.A.) and Villanova University School of Law (J.D.). He is a member of the state bars of North Carolina and Texas.

Jon Yu

Jon Yu is an Acquisition Analyst in Milestone's Dallas office where he supports the identifying, underwriting and due diligence of the firm ‘s investments in the Central and West markets. Prior to joining Milestone in June 2022, Jon was a multifamily real estate asset manager and Chief Information Officer for a private company for 7 years where he developed a strong background in caital raising, financial modeling and negotiation. Jon holds a masters degree in Business Administration in Finance and Real Estate from Southern Methodist University and a bachelors degree in Architecture. Jon is actively involved in professional organizations such as the Urban Land Institute, Texas Real Estate Commission, Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Real Estate Council.

Michael G. Sauer

Michael G. Sauer is the head of operations and construction management at Milestone where he is responsible for managing all property operations and construction including execution of the firm's value-add strategy. Over the past seven years, Mr. Sauer has managed operations of over 20,000 multifamily units and executed over $50 million of value-add construction projects. Prior to joining Milestone, he spent 12 years with BVT Equity Holdings in Atlanta, Georgia where he was responsible for sourcing, underwriting and structuring multifamily development opportunities. During his time at BVT, Mr. Sauer developed over 5,000 multifamily units. Prior to his tenure at BVT, he served as Vice President, Private Banking with HypoVereinsbank (HVB Group) in Germany where he was responsible for the syndication of US Real Estate investment funds. Mr. Sauer graduated from Georgia State University with an M.S. in Real Estate and from Southern Polytechnic State University with an M.S. in Construction Management. He holds a LEED-AP accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council and a Specialty Construction certificate from Southern Polytechnic State University.

Robert P. Landin - CEO

Robert P. Landin is a Co-Managing Partner of The Milestone Group and Co-Chairman of Milestone's Investment Committee. Mr. Landin is responsible for establishing the strategic direction of Milestone, capital markets activities and fundraising. Mr. Landin has over 30 years of real estate acquisition, development, capital markets and investment management experience. Mr. Landin served as CEO of Milestone REIT from inception until sale in April 2017. Prior to joining Milestone in 2004, Mr. Landin held key roles with Olympus Real Estate Partners and Colony Capital, two leading U.S. real estate private equity firms where he was responsible for identifying, negotiating and structuring acquisition opportunities, as well as liquidating diverse performing and non-performing portfolios. During his tenures at Olympus Real Estate Partners and Colony Capital, Mr. Landin transacted on over $10 billion of real estate investments. Mr. Landin received a B.A. in Managerial Economics from Union College in Schenectady, NY and studied at The London School of Economics. He is a member of The Real Estate Council and Real Property Association of Canada (REALpac). He also serves as a Trustee of the St. Philip's Foundation and a Trustee of Bridge Lacrosse.

Shay Newcomer

Shay Newcomer leads Milestone's Asset Management activities in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. He is responsible for the execution of asset business plans and implementing Milestone's capital improvement and value-add strategies throughout the portfolio. Previously, Mr. Newcomer was a key member of Milestone's Acquisitions team and was directly involved in over $1.3 billion of asset and portfolio transactions totaling 8,000 units. Prior to joining Milestone, Mr. Newcomer was a Senior Associate for Trimont Real Estate Advisors where he was responsible for assisting institutional investors in the underwriting and management of capital invested throughout the capital stack. During his time at Trimont, Mr. Newcomer was involved in projects totaling approximately $900 million, which included the development and repositioning of multifamily, office, hospitality, and retail properties. Mr. Newcomer received his BS in Finance & Accounting from Elon University in 2012.

Yuan Yuan - CFO

Yuan Yuan is the Chief Financial Officer at Milestone, primarily focusing on overseeing all financial, accounting and investor reporting matters of the firm's private equity funds and separate account joint ventures. Before joining Milestone, Yuan was an Assistant Vice President with the Private Equity and Real Estate Services Group at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she was responsible for the financial and investor reporting for multiple private equity and real estate funds with approximately $3 billion of assets under management. Yuan worked as a Finance Manager at TPG Capital, one of the world's largest private equity firms, and started her career with the Enterprise Risk Advisory Group of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Yuan holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and International Finance from Renmin University of China in Beijing and a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Yuan is a Certified Public Accountant and has passed Level I and Level II of the Chartered Financial Analyst exams.
