MONA VALE VILLAGE SHOE REPAIRS - Key Persons

Tom Mastroianni

Tom Mastroianni, known as the ‘Boot maker' in Mona Vale opened his business in 1972. His grandfather, father and his nephew Dominic all learnt this ancient craft of a cobbler. Tom was known for his excellent craftsmanship, no repair whether it was a handbag, shoes or any leather good was too difficult. In September 2011, whilst on his way to work at his business in Mona Vale, Tom died suddenly. Four days short of his 70th birthday, Tom did what he loved doing all his life. He enjoyed being part of the community of the Mona Vale Business centre. Unable to let the family legacy die, Tom's son-in-law Vince decided to continue the business and offer the same quality and friendly service Tom had for so long. Working with Vince, Dominic who was taught by Tom from the age of 17(1978), when he left high school and began his apprenticeship. When Vince decided to take over the family business, he thought of no one better to work with than the Master's apprentice, who now has become the Master Cobbler in Mona Vale. Both Vince and Dominic hope to continue the legacy that Tom left.
