Simon McKeon AO - 2011 Australian of the Year - is the current Chancellor of Monash University and is the Patron and Life Governor of MS Australia.
Simon McKeon was a founding Chairman of MS Research Australia, the research arm of MS Australia, and retired as a Director of MS Research Australia in 2011. Following, he was named an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to business, commerce and community through leadership and advisory roles, as a supporter of national and international charitable, educational and sporting organisations.
Previously, Mr McKeon was engaged as the former Executive Chairman of the Macquarie Group Limited, and is the former Chairman of the CSIRO.
He is the co-author of the Commonwealth Governments' 2013 McKeon Review- providing a new blueprint strategy for health and medical research in this country. His many other humanitarian and philanthropic activities include being a Director of World Vision for 15 years, a Director of the Global Poverty Project and working directly with people addicted to drugs and with remote indigenous communities.
