The work NLCDC provides is less about dollars, pounds of food, and material assistance but a holistic approach recognizing that the majority of the individuals we serve face multiple layers of barriers and trauma that prevent them from thriving. Barriers such as limited English proficiency, lack of access of affordable healthcare and/or insurance, significant housing insecurity, undocumented immigration status, limited or no knowledge of social service structures and systems, and much more are layered to create situations that are overwhelming.
