A 2011 graduate of Mississippi College School of Law, Brandie previously practiced in the areas of family law and administrative law. Brandy Hayes

Brandy Hayes joined the firm in 2017 as the receptionist/legal administration then became the Legal Operations Manager in 2019. Brandy received her Associates in Arts Degree from Jefferson State Community College in 2011 and Associates in Science Paralegal Degree from Wallace State Community College in 2017. Brandy spends her free time in her craft room or with family and friends outdoors.

Charles L. Sullivan

Charles L. Sullivan came to Nathan & Nathan, P.C. in early 2024 after being a member of the Georgia State Bar since 1997. A graduate of the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, Charles served as student clerk for the Hon. Kenneth O. Simon during the third year of law school. Since graduating and passing the Georgia Bar, Charles has practiced in the areas of real estate, immigration, business transactions and litigation, bankruptcy, and now debt collections. In his spare time, Charles enjoys cooking comfort foods from around the world and putting his three smokers to work, sometimes more than one at a time.

Donna Bowling Nathan

Donna Nathan joined the firm as a partner in 1996. A 1986 summa cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in communicative disorders, she received her juris doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1989 where she served on the Alabama Law Review and on the Alabama Trial Advocacy Team. Upon graduation, she worked with a prominent Birmingham law firm where she was a partner handling complex commercial litigation, class actions, and creditors' rights litigation. At Nathan & Nathan, she is a senior litigator and manages the firm's foreclosure department.

J. Bart Lloyd, III

Bart Lloyd joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2002, and currently serves as the Director of Litigation and Compliance. A 1995 Honor's Program graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in international relations, he received his juris doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1998, where he served as a senator in the Student Bar Association. Upon graduation, Bart moved to Birmingham and established a private general law practice with offices in Birmingham and Jasper. Bart has served as Treasurer, Vice-President and, most recently, as President of the Creditor's Attorney Association of Alabama. Bart is a member of NARCA (The National Creditors Bar Association), the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals (ACA International), and the Tennessee Bar Association Creditor's Practice Section. Bart enjoys spending time cheering for his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide, and spending time with his wife and three boys. Bart is licensed to practice before all state courts of both Alabama (1998) and Tennessee (2005), and is admitted to the bar of the Federal District Courts of the Northern District of Alabama and the Eastern District of Tennessee.

Jessica Lauderdale-Bolt

Jessica Lauderdale-Bolt joined the firm in 2007 as a legal assistant. Upon receiving her Juris Doctorate from Birmingham School of Law in 2011, she continued to work with the firm as the Quality Assurance Manager and later transitioning into Workflow Manager. Jessica currently serves as the Director of Performance Operations. Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts in History from University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2004 and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the same institution in 2005. Outside the office, Jessica is an avid reader and enjoys spending her free time with her husband and daughter.

John H. Nathan - CEO, Founder

John Nathan, founder of the firm, has focused his entire legal career on collections law and creditors' rights. A practicing attorney with a strong financial background, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 1982 with a double major in corporate finance/investment management and in computer science. Following graduation from college, he worked in the Special Collections Department at the National Bank of Georgia in Atlanta. He then obtained his juris doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1987 and managed a large collections practice in Mobile, Alabama prior to establishing Nathan & Associates, P.C. (now Nathan & Nathan, P.C.) in 1991.

Joshua Aarons

Joshua Aarons joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2021, and currently serves as the State Managing Attorney for Alabama. Joshua received his Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Samford University in 2016 prior to obtaining his Juris Doctor from Samford University's Cumberland School of Law in 2019. In his free time, Joshua enjoys playing with his cat, gaming, and spending time with family and friends. Joshua is a member of the Alabama State Bar and is licensed to practice law before all state courts in Alabama (2019).

Kara Reese

Kara Reese joined the firm in 2020 as an associate attorney. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Belmont University College of Law in 2017. Before becoming an attorney, Kara worked as a research biologist alongside the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute on Barro Colorado Island, Panama. She earned her Master of Science degree from the Ohio State University with focus on Ecology in 2013. Further, Kara received her undergraduate degree from Elon University in 2011 in Biology. Kara and her husband have four rescue dogs and three rescue cats. Kara is a member of the Tennessee State Bar and is licensed to practice law before all state courts in Tennessee (2017).

Katie Tubbs joined the firm in 2012 as an associate attorney after receiving her Juris Doctorate degree from Cumberland School of Law in 2011. At Cumberland, Katie was a member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy and the Tennessee Student Bar Association. Though originally from East Tennessee, Katie stayed in Birmingham after graduation. Katie received her undergraduate degree from Troy University in 2008 with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Broadcast Journalism. Katie is active in her church and enjoys hiking (with her adorable Westie), shopping, and reading. Katie is licensed to practice law before all state courts in Alabama (2011) and Tennessee (2011) and all lower state courts in Georgia (2015).

Leneé Whitten

Mark Lopez

Mark Lopez worked as a consultant for the firm for two years doing mostly EDI work before joining the firm full time in the summer of 2006 and is currently serving as the IT Director. Mark had previously worked as a .NET developer, and IT generalist. He obtained his Master of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, dogs, and birds, playing chess, and watching the Titans, Predators, and Nashville SC play.

Nicole Turbinton is an associate attorney out of the Nashville Office. She graduated cum laude from Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law in Spring of 2021. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Prior to starting with Nathan & Nathan, she worked as a solo practitioner in Knoxville, Tennessee as a family law attorney practicing in Knoxville Juvenile Court. While in Knoxville, she was Co-Chair of the New Lawyers Section of the Knoxville Bar Association. She spends her free time reading and playing with her little Chiweenie, Marble. Nicole is a member of the Tennessee State Bar and is licensed to practice law before all state courts in Tennessee
