Graham founded Natural Habitats in 1978, under the mentorship of the city's then only Landscape Architect. Graham has worked on and led many outstanding landscape projects in the South Pacific, including resorts, golf courses, public and private commercial projects and exclusive private estates and homes. Under his leadership, Natural Habitats has grown to be the leading provider of integrated landscape management within Australasia. Graham demonstrates coherent leadership of multi-disciplinary teams in order to achieve the unmatched, high-quality outcomes Natural Habitats is renowned for. Graham is also at the forefront of thinking on the use of natural systems to mitigate urban development issues. He played a pivotal role in Natural Habitat's pioneering Green Roof and Wall technology within New Zealand. This technology is now highly sought after. Graham has served as consultant and advisor to numerous landscape design and environmental groups. A conservationist at heart, he is a founding member of Landscaping New Zealand, an accredited Green Roof Professional, an executive of Green Roofs Australasia, an associate of KEA, a participant in the Great Barrier Environmental Trust and a member of Forest & Bird and the Native Forest Restoration Trust.

Micah is a highly experienced Landscaper, specialising in the design and build of high-end landscapes in the residential and commercial sector. As Senior Project Manager in Queenstown, Micah brings a wealth of landscaping experience from hardscapes to softscapes with a keen interest in business. Micah's passion for Landscape started at the young age of 15 when he began an apprenticeship in stonemasonry and bricklaying. Coupled with a love of hard work, Micah grew his skillset to run his own landscaping business before going back to his roots in stonemasonry, designing and building high end landscapes. In 2019, Micah and his family made the move from Bundaberg, Australia for the sights and lifestyle of New Zealand. Since then, Micah has developed a sound knowledge of the New Zealand landscape and is thrilled to lead our Queenstown team in his favourite location in the country.

Phil is a Board Director and advocate for Natural Habitats' vision of a greener, more beautiful Aotearoa New Zealand. He is the Managing Director of private investment company ForthCo, and also sits on the board of Skyline Healthcare and New Zealand's global talent network, Kea. Phil is also a board director of Chapter Zero, the Directors' Climate Forum. Phil has been an investor in and director of several other iconic New Zealand companies including Hellers, Tuatara Brewing, and Rainbows End. A qualified civil engineer, Phil started his career as a construction manager working on infrastructure projects in Europe (London Underground Jubilee Line) and Asia (Tsing-Ma Bridge, Hong Kong).

Richard Lauder - Chairman

Richard is a board director at Natural Habitats, bringing an extensive skillset from a background in tourism and amenity horticulture. Richard was the founding Chief Executive of City Care, where he led the change from a Christchurch City Council works operations business unit into a highly regarded leading national infrastructure services contractor. He has previously held a number of Chief Executive, Director and Chairman roles, and played an integral part in the growth and success of many businesses. Richard is also currently the Chair of the Trust for the Destruction of Synthetic Refrigerants, playing a significant role in reducing New Zealand's greenhouse gas emissions. Richard's zeal for climate change mitigation and sustainability makes him a natural fit for Natural Habitats.

Tom McCarthy

Formerly in a Senior Project Manager role with Natural Habitats, Tom was appointed to Commercial Landscaping & Group Housing Manager after displaying outstanding leadership skills. As well as delivering projects to a high standard, his main focus involves a high level of client relations, pricing, procurement, as well as quality control. Tom has more than 15 years of practical experience as a horticulturist and landscaper in the UK, New Zealand and Australia. From a young age, he was an outdoor enthusiast, passionate about the ocean and natural environment. Originally from the UK, Tom studied at Exeter University in the UK, gaining an honours degree in Business Management, a certificate in Project Management from Monash University and graduated with a National Certificate in Horticulture from Otago Polytechnic, New Zealand. Tom formally gained management experience working for a large civil construction firm in New Zealand, managing large and small landscaping projects. In his current role, Tom is proud to be incorporating sustainable practices and green technology into the rapidly developing construction sector.
