Dr. Catherine Bergmann

Dr. Bergmann is a member of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN) as well as the International Neuropsychological Society (INS). Dr. Bergmann is actively involved in clinical research on multiple neurological conditions including multiple sclerosis (MS), dementia, and substance use, as well as teleneuropsychological assessment and the role of technology in neuropsychology.

Dr. Cynthia Sullivan

Dr. Cynthia Sullivan has been a partner at the Neuropsychology Associates of Fairfax (NAF) since 2006. She is also an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Georgetown University Medical Center and is credentialed at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Virginia Hospital Center. Dr. Sullivan received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland and completed her fellowship in neuropsychology at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Washington, D.C. For the next 5 years, she was the co-director of the neuropsychology program at the VAMC and served as the psychologist for the chronic pain program. Since 1998, she has been actively involved in research. Topics of research interest include computerized cognitive assessment and the cognitive correlates of multiple sclerosis (MS), dementia, neurocysticercosis, allergies, sedating medications, and Persian Gulf War Syndrome. She has co-authored book chapters and numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and published abstracts. Her research has been presented at national and international scientific conferences, including: American Neurological Association, American Academy of Neurology, and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. At NAF, Dr. Sullivan provides neuropsychological evaluations to assist with differential diagnosis and functional analysis for a wide range of neurocognitive conditions across the lifespan, including learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, autoimmune disorders, epilepsy, infectious disease, cerebrovascular illness, dementia, and psychiatric conditions. Dr. Sullivan also serves as the director of the training program at NAF. Dr. Sullivan is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society, and American Psychological Association. She has also served as a reviewer for a number of scientific journals.

Dr. Jeffrey Wilken

Dr. Wilken has been a partner at the Neuropsychology Associates of Fairfax (NAF) since 2006. He is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Georgetown University Medical Center and the Director of the Washington Neuropsychology Research Group. Dr. Wilken received his B.S. from Cornell University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland at College Park. He completed pre-doctoral training at the NIH, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center, and the VA Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. He completed post-doctoral training at Georgetown University Medical Center. Prior to coming to NAF, Dr. Wilken was the director of the neuropsychology program at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for 8 years. At NAF, Dr. Wilken provides neuropsychological evaluations to assist with differential diagnosis and functional analysis for a wide range of neurocognitive conditions across the lifespan. This includes (but is not limited to) dementia, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, MS (and other demyelinating conditions), infectious disease, cerebrovascular illness, psycho-educational and learning disability evaluation, and psychiatric causes of cognitive decline. In addition to his clinical work , Dr. Wilken is involved in numerous research projects designed to study neurocognitive correlates of brain disease/injury. He is the primary investigator in charge of multi-center, funded studies looking at the cognitive sequelae of multiple sclerosis (MS) and dementia, the utility of computerized assessment, potential sedative effects of medications, and the efficacy of combination therapy in the treatment of cognitive decline. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and published abstracts. His research has been presented at national and international scientific conferences, including: American Neurological Association, American Academy of Neurology, and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. Dr. Wilken is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society, and American Psychological Association. He is a reviewer for a number of scientific journals.

Dr. Joanna Luzzi

Dr. Joanna Luzzi earned her B.A. in psychology from Arizona State University (ASU) and a M.A. in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. She then moved to the local area and received her Psy.D in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology (ASPP). During this time, she completed her APA Accredited Internship (emphasis in Psychological Assessment and Neuropsychology) at Washington Medical Group in Washington DC. After graduation, Dr. Luzzi completed a 2-year fellowship in neuropsychology and had didactic training through Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC: 2-year Neuropsychology Fellowship Seminar). Dr. Luzzi is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist. She has been an associate at Neuropsychology Associates of Fairfax (NAF) since 2019. She works with a diverse client population characterized by an array of neurological and psychiatric disorders, including Multiple Sclerosis (MS), traumatic brain injury, dementia, and Parkinson's disease (PD). She has presented at the American Psychological Association (APA) and is a member of APA as well as the International Neuropsychological Society (INS).

Dr. Mary Elizabeth Quig

Dr. Mary Elizabeth Quig is the Founding Partner of the Neuropsychology Associates of Fairfax, LLC. Dr. Quig founded the Neuropsychology Associates of Fairfax in 2003, and has enjoyed watching the practice grow over the years. Dr. Quig obtained her B.A. in Psychology from Georgetown University in 1988 and her Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology from Duke University in 1996. Dr. Quig completed her clinical internship in the Psychology Department of the Baltimore VA Medical System

Dr. Robert L. Kane

Robert L. Kane, PhD, ABPP-CN, is a clinical neuropsychologist board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology/American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology. He received his PhD from Texas Tech University. He completed an internship in clinical psychology at the VA Medical Center, Waco Texas and he received specialized postdoctoral training in neuropsychology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center under Dr. Oscar Parsons. Dr. Kane has extensive clinical experience assessing adults with a wide range of neurological disorders and brain injury. He also performs evaluations for individuals requiring neurocognitive assessment for FAA medical certificates. Dr. Kane currently serves as a Highly Qualified Expert for the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command. Previously, he directed neuropsychology assessment clinics at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in East Orange New Jersey; the VA Maryland Healthcare System; and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He served as faculty for the neuropsychology postdoctoral training program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and directed postdoctoral training programs in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and at the VA Maryland Healthcare System. He served as the Associate Director for Communications (telemedicine) at the VA East Coast Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence. He also served as the program manager for the DoD Neurocognitive Assessment Program at the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center and as a Senior Research Scientist at the U.S. Army Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center where he managed the Parkinson's Disease Research Program. He served as a consultant to Medical Operations, NASA Johnson Space Center, and was instrumental in the development of the computerized NASA Spaceflight Cognitive Assessment Tool. He has held faculty positions at various medical schools and works closely with the Georgetown University Memory Disorders program. He has published 68 articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored or coauthored 14 book chapters. He is the coeditor of a book entitled The Role of Technology in Clinical Neuropsychology. He reviews articles for various journals. He is a fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and Associate Fellow in the Aerospace Medical Association.
