ROTARY CLUB OF OBAN - Key Persons
In September, former club president Iain MacIntyre was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship, the highest accolade a Rotarian can receive. It is only the 13th time the award has been given since the Oban group began in 1949.

Chicago businessman Paul Harris founded the world-wide Rotary movement in 1905 and the fellowship in his name was awarded as a certificate and a gold medal. Past Oban Rotary President, Douglas Small, who made the presentation, said Iain's contribution to the Rotary Club of Oban had helped it to expeand its support of many local good causes.
Iain is a former pupil of Oban High School and joined the Bank of Scotland in 1963, going on to enjoy a rewarding career which saw him acheive senior positions within the bank. He was made a fellow of the Institute of Bankers (Scotland) in 1985 for his work in lecturing and preparing students for exams. In 1998, he retired to Oban with his wife Jane. Iain was a stalwart member of Oban Camanachd for many tears and captained the Scotland Shinty team v Ireland's Hurlers in 1979. He was also a founder member of Oban Saints Football Club.
Well known local businessman Graham MacQueen is seen here being presented with The Paul Harris Fellowship Medal in recognition of his enormous contribution to the town of Oban and beyond through his work for the Rotary Club of Oban and indeed as the driving force behind MacQueens Charitable Trust. Graham, who is a past President of Oban Rotary and is currently the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Argyll and Bute , remains very active in the community through Rotary and his removal and storage company, MacQueen Brothers. The Paul Harris Fellowship Medal is the most prestigious award within the Rotary Movement.

Oban Rotary President Ken Moncrieff recently presented Ian MacInnes with his Paul Harris certificate and medal in recognition of his outstanding commitment to Rotary and the Oban community. (PaulHarris, who was an American from Chicago, founded the Rotary Movement in 1905.)
Ian MacInnes is a well known Oban man through his family business of D & A Munn, Funeral Directors and as a playing member of the all conquering Oban Celtic Shinty team of the early 1960's. Ian is a past President of Oban Rotary and currently holds the position of Sports Convener.
