PATTERNLAB - Key Persons

Jonas Richiardi

Jonas Richiardi received his Ph.D. degree in biometric signal processing and pattern recognition from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Signal Processing Institute, in 2007. Previously, he had obtained his B.Eng. (Hons) degree in electronic engineering with first class honours from the University of Essex, UK, in 2001, and an M.Phil. degree in computer speech, text, and Internet technology from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2002. He has extensive experience as a technology consultant, having worked with Intersource for numerous international organisations and private companies in the Geneva area over the past 10 years. He is a member of the IEEE and of the ISCA (International Speech Communication Association), a reviewer for IEEE Signal Processing Letters, IET Signal Processing, the Journal of Systems and Software (Elsevier), and the EUSIPCO 2007 and 2008 conferences. During his graduate studies, he was the recipient of an ICASSP best student paper award. His research interests include probabilistic modelling, multiple classifier systems, graphical models, handwritten signature verification, and speech processing. Jonas can be reached at .

Krzysztof Kryszczuk

Krzysztof Kryszczuk obtained his doctorate in Pattern Recognition from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Signal Processing Institute, in 2007. Before joining EPFL he was a Research Engineer at the National University of Singapore. He obtained his M.S. degree in psychology (cognitive systems engineering) from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2001, and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Lublin Institute of Technology in 1999. Krzysztof received the EBF Research Award in 2007 for his work on biometric classification with quality information. Member of the IEEE and EURASIP, he is a reviewer for numerous international journals in the domain of pattern recognition and signal processing, including Pattern Recognition Letters, Signal Processing Letters, Pattern Analysis and Applications, Journal of Optical Engineering and others. His research interests include data mining, predictive modeling, statistical pattern recognition, image processing, biometrics (face, fingerprint, iris). Krzysztof can be reached at .
