At the turn of the millennium, a group of family doctors noticed that our local healthcare system was in a crisis. Many patients did not have a family doctor and chronic or lifelong diseases (such as diabetes, COPD, heart problems) continued to rise. The local hospital felt a growing stress to support these patients. It became visible to the local family doctors that something had to be done... We are one of the first Family Health Teams in Ontario and are deeply rooted into the City and County of Peterborough as your trusted source for family medicine... The Peterborough Family Health Team provides a team-based approach to primary care in many locations across the city and county of Peterborough.
