Cary Tepper is a native of Massapequa, New York, and has resided in the Washington, D.C. area since graduating from Hofstra University in 1981 with a Bachelor`s degree in broadcast journalism. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1985 from the Washington College of Law at The American University. Cary conducts an extensive telecommunications law practice, with concentrations in the areas of broadcast regulation, radio spectrum allocations and administrative hearing litigation. He is also experienced in state and local regulation of communications facilities, business negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, financing, broadcast facilities development and the prosecution of federal copyright and trademark registration applications. In addition to practicing telecommunications law, Cary Tepper has held ownership interests in radio stations. This broadcast business experience has enabled him to offer a more practical approach to his legal counsel, especially in areas of broadcast acquisitions and sales, broadcast operational management, sales and business agreements, and music licensing (BMI, SESAC and ASCAP) negotiations and defense. He has a strong legal-technical background and serves as FCC counsel to several technical consulting firms. Cary Tepper has been an active member of the broadcasting community, conducting broadcast communications regulations and business law seminars at broadcast conventions in St. Louis, Nashville, Orlando, Las Vegas, Kansas City and Providence. Additionally, he serves as communications counsel to numerous leading colleges and universities such as Seton Hall University, Villanova University, Texas A&M University and Colorado State University. His expertise in noncommercial broadcasting was recognized in an April 7, 2004 article in "Radio World."
