David Wherry - President

After several years of subcontracting, David formerly joined the Progressive Design Build team as a Production Manager in 2012. He quickly filled valuable roles as a Project Consultant and Director of Marketing, overseeing homeowner consultations, designer coordination, project budgeting, subcontractor management, marketing, and supplier relations. In January 2020, Dave purchased the company and is now effectively leading the design and construction team and managing the company as President. Originally from St. Mary's, West Virginia, David relocated to Fort Myers in 2002 for the PGA golfing apprentice program. With a business degree from West Virginia University, David honed his business systems and management skills at the renowned multi-million-dollar company, Home Depot. He also spent 6 years running his own commercial and residential cleaning company - all while subcontracting with Progressive Design Build. David notes, "It was such a pleasure working with the Progressive Design Build Team as a sub-contractor that I welcomed the opportunity to join a company full time. It's great to work with a company that has a culture and core values that are so clearly in line with my own." David and his family love the outdoors. Joseph (Joe) Mecklenburg

  • Production Manager
New to Southwest Florida, having moved from Chicago, Joe comes to Progressive Design Build with a strong work ethic, superior leadership skills and a talent for problem solving. His 20-year background in construction, from labor to project management, has proven to be a vital asset to the company, giving Joe inside knowledge of construction projects and better opportunities to problem solve a variety of challenges. When asked what he is passionate about professionally, Joe exclaimed, "I really enjoy working with a smaller, more personal company like Progressive Design Build. There's nothing like working with large groups of people and facilitating the communication needed to manage a finished project-especially to the homeowner's joy and satisfaction." Over Joe's 20-year work history he's completed several certification and training programs to include but not limited to project management, architectural design, HVAC and electrical framing. When Joe isn't working, he is immersed in his family's lives spending time with his wife and spectating or coaching his kids in their sports, particularly football and wrestling. Joyce Niblick

An integral part of the Progressive Design Build team and hired in 2018, Joyce brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her position as an office/accounts manager.

Malvika Madan

Job Titles:
  • Office Assistant
The newest member of the Progressive Design Build team, Malvika brings new insight, enthusiasm and creative energy to her expansive administrative duties-to include marketing and general support to the Progressive Design Build executive team. "As a college student, I am always learning about new trends and ideas, exclaimed Malvika. "Progressive Design Build is a continually evolving company and the team behind it thrives on education and new ideas. I love that I can bring my own unique perspective in areas like marketing and design." Originally from Florida, Malvika is working toward a B.A. in Marketing from Florida Golf Coast University (FGCU). She is passionate about bringing a creative twist into the marketing world and contributing ideas that will market Progressive Design Build effectively and efficiently. Malvika enjoys quality time with her friends, going to the beach, nature walks and kayaking. She also loves shopping!

Nikki Bruty

Nikki comes to Progressive Design Build with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Interior Design from the International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) in Schaumburg, IL and over 19 years of experience in home design. Currently working on a NCIDQ certification, she also brings a wealth of knowledge to our growing design-build firm, working with a variety of architects, builders, home remodelers and interior designers since 2000. What we love about her-Nikki works with our clients diligently to bring their vision to life. Using design tools like Chief Architect, she creates useful 3D renderings that enable homeowners to inspect their project from every angle, tweaking design elements, well before construction begins. Nikki also is a stickler for details, thinking through every angle, and providing invaluable advice and recommendations. "I will always take the time to explain why I think something won't work," said Nikki. "I want to help our clients make an informed decision by giving them as much information as possible." Nikki's responsibilities include assisting with project management, supporting sales, updating the showroom, staying on top of current design trends, and assisting clients in shopping for the perfect fixtures and finishes, while helping them stay within budget. When asked what she is passionate about professionally, Nikki replied, "I LOVE making my clients happy. Solving problems is what I was made to do. I particularly enjoy making things happen in spaces that no one else thought was possible. The best compliment I receive from clients is hearing, ‘I never thought of that.'"

Ruth Amore

As Office Manager and Accountant for Progressive Design Build, Ruth is thrilled to be contributing to the organization and operation of yet another successful firm. Ruth's career started in 1981, when she helped start a family plumbing and heating business in New Jersey. A natural entrepreneur, the company flourished under her management. 18 years later, Ruth's flair for HR, accounting, and operations had her successfully supervising over 20 employees. A consummate multi-tasker, Ruth simultaneously ran the plumbing and heating business while managing a Mr. Rooter drain cleaning franchise and continuing her business education. In 2006, she also opened a candy store. Ruth relocated to Southwest Florida in 2014 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law in Naples. Shortly thereafter, she found Progressive Design Build. When asked what she loves about her work with Progressive, Ruth says, "I feel so blessed to collaborate with Mike and the talented Progressive Design Build team." Not only is Ruth a dedicated business woman, she is the mother of 3 successful daughters and grandmother of 9. When she's not working, Ruth is usually spending time with her family. She also enjoys exploring the beautiful state of Florida and biking on Sanibel Island.

Sean Wayt

Job Titles:
  • Remodeling Assistant
As a young apprentice, Sean is a quick learner with a passion for remodeling. His primary responsibilities include assisting the lead carpenters performing on-site duties such as demolition, light framing, interior door installation, trim work, exterior grading and cleaning, as well as construction cleanup. Relatively new to the industry, Sean is excited about being part of an innovative remodeling team. He was hired on for his work ethic, reliability and thirst for knowledge. He is passionate about learning something new every day.
