QURESHI LAW ASSOCIATES - Key Persons
Mr Qureshi did his Bachelor of Laws from Middlesex University in London and was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law in New York, USA in 1993, Barrister-at-Law from Grays Inn in 1994, London and as an Advocate of the High Court in Pakistan in 1995. Upon qualifying, Mr Qureshi established his own law firm in Pakistan in 1996 and practiced for over a decade in Lahore, specializing in the banking & energy sectors where he had extensive dealings with IPP's and banks before leaving his law firm to join as the Director Legal (General Counsel) of Private Power & Infrastructure Board, Ministry of Water & Power, Government of Pakistan dealing with establishing private power plants where he made or finalized most of the standard model agreements used in the power sector in Pakistan and negotiated 14 power plants agreements worth over US$ 4 billion in nearly three years. The bulk of the key legal opinion work required for establishing the regulatory, policy and legal framework for IPP's under the 2002 Power Policy in Pakistan was done by Mr Qureshi.
Mr Qureshi subsequently joined OMV, an oil and gas exploration company in Islamabad as its Senior Legal Adviser (General Counsel) where he worked on gas processing agreements to drafting the gas wellhead rules and subsequently joined Al Tamimi & Company, the largest law firm in the UAE, as the head of its Projects Department dealing with energy and infrastructure on a GCC wide basis from solar and nuclear power plants in the UAE to oil and gas work in Iraq's recent petroleum licensing round for multinational oil companies. Mr Qureshi later rejoined his law firm where he continues to deal with oil & gas exploration companies and establishing IPP's.
