With a powerful combination of hands-on business experience and legal expertise, Laura Pyne is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in financial management, tax strategies, mergers and acquisitions, business development, valuations, and turnaround strategies for start-ups, second stage and multi-billion dollar companies, across multiple business sectors. As the founder of the Pyne Law Group P.A., a boutique law firm in Panama City, Florida, Laura is dedicated to providing advanced legal services and expert business strategies to help her clients protect both their business and personal assets. She is known and respected for her ability to solve challenging and complex issues, particularly for entrepreneurs seeking a combination of income tax strategies, estate tax strategies and asset protection. She has a strong track record of helping businesses and individuals reduce their tax liabilities through sound tax strategies. Prior to founding her law firm, Laura was a consultant with Collins Pyne Consulting, a tax and transactional financial management consulting firm. In this capacity, she developed and executed custom strategies to help clients grow, stabilize or reorganize their organizations, while also counseling entrepreneurs on asset protection, estate planning and income tax matters. Laura also served as the Vice President of Corporate Business Development and a member of the executive management team for Bell & Howell, a $1.2 billion publicly-traded company based in Chicago. In this role, she directed and executed all facets of the global M&A initiatives for three of four operating units. Prior to Bell & Howell, Laura served as Chief Financial Officer of Apollo Derivatives Group, a futures and options trading firm with offices in Chicago, London and Frankfurt. In this role, Laura was responsible for the financial oversight of the company's more than $220 million in assets. She designed and implemented their corporate infrastructure, and also developed treasury, tax, compliance, and proactive risk management strategies for the company's global operations. Laura also held key executive positions with JMB Realty Corporation, a privately-held real estate company based in Chicago with more than 300 properties and $22 billion in assets. There, she was responsible for the strategic direction, valuation, and financial results of a $1 billion portfolio, which included a number of the company's largest real estate holdings such as their corporate headquarters, Four Seasons Chicago Hotel, and operations at the Grand Canyon and Death Valley national parks. Laura has also had extensive experience in tax and audit roles with global accounting and professional services firms, KPMG and PwC, helping a diverse range of clients with their income and estate tax planning, research and tax compliance needs. Laura holds two business degrees from the University of Central Florida, including a B.S.B.A. in Finance and a B.S.B.A. in Accounting. She received her Juris Doctorate and her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida. Laura is also a Certified Public Accountant. Laura is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants; The Florida Bar Association; the American Bar Association; Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar Association; Tax Section of The Florida Bar Association; Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the American Bar Association; and Taxation Section of the American Bar Association.
