Arick Groth

Having joined RCL in 2009, Arick Groth is one of RCL's most detail-oriented engineers. Specializing in consulting services for the maintenance of building envelopes, his experience includes condition surveys, preparation of repair drawings and specifications, and construction observation for brick and stone masonry, roofing, plaster, windows and plaza systems. In addition, Arick has experience in structural engineering, assessment of existing buildings and the investigation and repair of water leakage within the building envelope. He has been involved in water infiltration testing of masonry, roofing and windows. Prior to joining RCL, Arick worked in the construction field for more than 10 years, specializing in wind turbines and commercial masonry, as well as general contracting. Arick earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and continues his education with frequent specialized roofing courses and seminars. When Arick isn't working, he most enjoys spending time with family.

Benjamin R. Hoppe

It was in high school that engineering first piqued Ben's interest. After doing a job shadow in his hometown of Hibbing, MN, Ben decided to pursue an education and career in Civil Engineering. He attended MSOE for graduate school and now brings a Master of Science degree to his role as Engineering Assistant at RCL. Ben is intrigued by the wide variety of issues found in the world of engineering and is particularly interested in fire damage, structural repair, and wind damage. Ben brings his experience as an Eagle Scout to this job and states that his approach to customer service is informed by his strong attention to detail. He emphasizes being as efficient as possible when drafting plans for customers and is excited to continue learning every day.

Breanna Schmidt

Brian Linville

"Buildings are like people," says Brian Linville. "They all have unique traits and behaviors to honor and understand." Brian's work for his clients always begins with learning about a building. He's continually inspired to understand more in order to help building owners achieve maximum value from their assets. He prides himself in identifying innovative and custom solutions to projects and problems that occur within the built environment. Brian knows the full value of traditional approaches, but also always works hard toward finding the best and most innovative solution. Brian has been a consultant in the roofing industry throughout his entire career. Through years of experience, he's highly proficient in roofing project design, roofing project management, building envelope product knowledge and building envelope problem solving. Over the course of his career, he has been instrumental in ensuring the successful installation and performance of over 30 million dollars' worth of roof systems for commercial building owners. Brian has worked in multiple roles within the construction industry which have earned him his unique set of skills and insight. He has experience as a product representative, regional technical manager, technical product consultant, product applicator and professional consultant. When he's not working, Brian enjoys spending time with his family and friends, listening to and playing music, playing golf and tennis, cooking and travel. He loves learning and has been a lifelong student of the arts and sciences.

Bryan Horvath

Bryan Horvath, BS, RRO, has designed and managed the installation of more than $25 million worth of commercial and residential roofing and wall projects since 1997. In his position as Senior Consultant with RCL, Bryan has wide-ranging and deep experience in the construction industry. His work includes investigations, retrofit design, specification writing and project management/quality assurance inspections for his residential, commercial, industrial, multi-family, property management and building owner clientele. Bryan also has extensive experience in the insurance industry providing forensic inspections on property loss claims, fulfilling the role of an appraiser or an umpire, and as an expert witness in construction litigation. Bryan came to RCL with a major in Construction Management and a minor in Business from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He is a Registered Roof Observer (RRO) and is in the process of earning his RRC. With more than 20 years' experience in roofing and walls, he's taken many continuing education classes to insure his expertise is the best in the market. Driving Bryan's work is the satisfaction of seeing projects he's designed come to fruition, helping clients resolve their building envelope issues, and being part of a successful team-oriented work environment. Bryan says a good sense of humor is what gets him through the most rigorous demands of working in the roofing industry. When he's not working, Bryan enjoys spending time with friends and family in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, golfing and watching his kids play sports. A long-time athlete himself, Bryan still holds the Badger High School pole vault record, something he achieved in 1991.

Chris Eklund

Chris is in charge of quality assurance checks at RCL. He investigates roofers' work to insure everything is perfect, then sends photo reports to the client. As a young student, Chris enjoyed math and art - today, he says those natural abilities found their way into his decisions about both higher education and his work. Chris earned his associate degree in drafting and has been with RCL since 2021. He appreciates what he says feels like a "family atmosphere" among RCL employees. Detail oriented and skilled at multi-tasking, Chris enjoys the fact that his work often requires him to juggle multiple projects at once. He's a "people person" who likes to know his mission and accomplish it. In addition to holding his associate degree, Chris is Nuclear Gauge Certified. When he's not working, Chris enjoys woodworking, reading, and playing board games and card games with his family.

David Broskie CADD

David believes having an accurate CAD model for a building in all its detail allows all parties to have a shared understanding of the specific construction and techniques used on each project, insuring all work is done to building codes. David says that what drives him in his work daily is his commitment to understanding the unique issues of each project and creating a solution for those needs. In addition to being a team player, David works to improve the lives of those around him with humor and consistent support. His outstanding career moment so far has been drawing roof plans for several high-profile buildings and skyscrapers. In life in general, David enjoys the pursuit of knowledge and understanding the world around him. When he's not working, he enjoys working out, gaming, hiking and volunteering. Finally, David wants you to know that, though he may be a transplant from Florida, he's been a Packers fan all his life.

Denise Manz

From setting up files, to scheduling inspections, to pulling photo reports and being the voice of RCL for clients and prospective customers, Denise does it all. Denise joined RCL in 2015, bringing valuable experience to her job as Office Assistant. Her co-workers call her super smart and fun to work with, and she likes to say that, together, they're all like a little family - in fact, the people she works with are her favorite part of working at RCL. When she's not working, Denise enjoys spending time with her family, going to concerts, crocheting, hunting, fishing and watching football.

Dewey Perry

Dewey comes to RCL Engineering with an extensive background in the roofing industry with over thirty years of experience. Dewey was a self-employed roofing contractor for 15 years. His passion for roofs led him beyond only installing roofing systems, but to designing new and better roofing systems and details. Always the entrepreneur, Dewey ran his own successful roof consulting firm for over a decade. The friendly competition between Dewey's previous firm and RCL came to end when Dewey decided to join forces and wear the RCL hat. RCL is thrilled to have Dewey join our team and share his wealth of knowledge and experience. When he's not working, Dewey enjoys traveling the world to Formula 1 auto racing events, restoring old automobiles, and camping with his wife and four children.

Duane Sawyer

In the industry since 1990, Duane Sawyer has been with RCL Engineering Group and Roofing Consultants Ltd. since 2013. In his role as Regional Manager, Duane is responsible for personnel, operations and marketing for RCL's Minnesota office, which services western Wisconsin, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, as well as parts of Iowa and Nebraska. He also performs investigations related to roofing, exterior façade and structural issues. Duane feels he serves RCL clients best by teaching them - providing thorough information that gives them confidence through their various decision-making processes. When he's not working, Duane likes to spend time with family. He enjoys watching sports, especially baseball. He likes to hunt, fish and smoke meats. Duane also likes to fly, having received his private pilot's license 20 years ago.

Eduardo Vega

When Eduardo is not working, he enjoys spending time with family, and visiting architecture and public art. He competes in triathlons and was recently a Triathlon Nationals qualifier.

Erica Knoll

In charge of everything surrounding office operations and procedures, payroll, correspondence and supply requisitions, she's come to enjoy her work in the accounting office most. Erica excels at putting together contracts and specifications - anything that involves critical thinking skills. She cites maintaining a good sense of humor as the perfect way to get through the busy season (spring, summer and fall!) at RCL. Outside of work, Erica enjoys travel, spending time with family, and walking her dog.

Jake Peterson

Jake Peterson excels at understanding complex projects and solving highly technical problems. He also very much enjoys working with clients on their buildings' issues and meeting and exceeding their expectations. He says that the sense of accomplishment of an efficient and comprehensive solution to tough problems gives him his highest motivation. Jake came to RCL in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering, both from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). Pre-RCL, previous job experiences gave Jake the opportunity to collaborate with other building professionals on numerous highly successful projects, among them the Hudson Yards Development in New York City and Camping World Stadium in Orlando, site of the Citrus Bowl. Jake brings to his work an appreciation for existing structures and the numerous ways previous engineers have gone about creating solutions for problems in the building environment. He looks to how his designs can maintain a structure's value or add to that value. In his free time, Jake enjoys family time, woodworking, do-it-yourself projects, hunting and auto racing and is active in his church. Additionally, he volunteers as a divisional technical/safety scrutineer for amateur road racing with a national motorsports organization.

Jeff Weston

When the quality of your significant roofing project depends on the experience of your consultant, you want Jeff Weston on the job. Jeff earned his Associate of Applied Science degree from Dunwoody College of Technology where students "learn by doing," and he's been doing phenomenal work for clients ever since. More than 25 years in the commercial roofing industry makes Jeff an expert on materials, their best applications, and their installation. Jeff prides himself on providing information and advice on all viable options. Jeff's hobbies include fishing and hunting and, lately, making maple syrup. Jeff built a drag racing car from the ground up with his father, which they're now fine-tuning to be as competitive as possible. Jeff's idea of the ultimate relaxation is gathering with family and friends - especially when he can be sitting on the end of his dock just watching the sun go down.

Jesse Miller

Jesse Miller says if he had to write his own title, instead of Senior Consultant it would be "Estimating Wizard." There's a lot of expertise involved in working in the adjusting industry, using your training and experience to make the right calls regarding damage estimates. With eight years as a damage causation investigator, nine years in adjusting, and several years in construction, Jesse has that experience. He's HAAG certified, Steep Slope Certified and consistently furthers his knowledge through continuing education classes with the University of Wisconsin, especially in Roofing and Façade. Through it all, what drives Jesse in his work is a high level of integrity and attention to detail and his desire to help people and solve problems. Jesse's downtime is spent studying - "learning truth" as he calls it, working out and enjoying time with family.

Josh Harris

Josh Harris has worked in the industry since 2010. Josh graduated from Michigan Technology University with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering with a structural concentration. As a professional engineer, his work experience to date has revolved around providing structural calculations, drawing packages, project management, estimating, and purchasing. Josh's expertise lies in structural steel design, and he identifies his most outstanding career achievement to date as being given the opportunity to design large-scale steel structures at various locations in the United States and Canada. Josh says finding safe, accurate solutions to difficult problems is what drives him in his work. He feels his stand-out personality characteristic is his love of meeting new people. Mark earned an associate in science degree from Moraine Valley Community College in 2022 and his AutoCAD certification in 2018. Today, as a field assistant and CAD expert with RCL, his work involves conducting moisture scans during flat roof inspections. In the office, he does support work for RCL engineers and consultants. Mark has always been interested in Architecture/Civil Engineering and says RCL gives him the opportunity to assist in many ways and learn something new every day. Mark is a very hard worker who helps in any way possible wherever he's needed. Evenings and weekends, Mark enjoys hanging out with friends and family, woodworking, riding motorcycles and jet skis - and driving his dad's 1975 vintage Mercedes 240d. He also enjoys playing soccer with old friends whenever he can.

Rachael earned her bachelor of science degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She continues to learn by working side by side with her RCL colleagues, "never hesitating to ask questions and double-checking the work to make sure that we're doing the best job possible." When she's not working, Rachael enjoys playing with her dog, making memories with friends and family, strength training at the gym, and binge-watching the Marvel movies.
