SAKARAMENTA

Sakaramenta is a social production company; we operate like a business, but have a social goal like an NGO. We are a so called "social business". We have no donors, we are self-sustainable. Most of the profit is used to reach our social goals; to stimulate entrepreneurship, create employment and improve the access to health facilities in Malawi... The choice to run Sakaramenta as a social business is that in this way we bring social development to Malawi and we stay 100% customer focused. We can only survive if we produce high quality products in an efficient way, according to the demand of the customer... In close collaboration with some NGOs and Malawian based companies, Sakaramenta also designed other innovative carts with various purposes such as hand and bicycle carts to transport and sell goods (May 2010). Applications are limitless: farmers can transport their goods more cheaply and young entrepreneurs are inspired to become transport businessmen.
