David is a very steady, pragmatic and cerebral person. But don't be fooled: when the time is right, he is also goofy, sarcastic and funny. Topics like politics, philosophy and personal statements are his favorite when it comes to reading books, but not in life in general, otherwise we would be constantly pushing each other's buttons. He was connected to the arts from a very young age, but he always showed interest in science too. That's why he decided to apply to a degree in Chemistry. A year later he realises that it would be even better having also a Design degree to complement his two interests and creating this new (so he thought) field of expertise and revolutionise the world. Little did he know that there were already a lot of people doing that before him *sigh*. He then enrolled in an Editorial Design Masters and recently started working at the Science Office. The pieces finally came together and now he work both in design and science.
Joana is a cheerful young creative who, although not having science training, always had a big passion for science topics. Following her constant desire to learn and her love of art, Joana took a degree in design and later a master's in image design, where she discovered a new passion, illustration. After spending some years working in more commercial design work, where she aquired many skills and techniques especially in print and image editing, Joana joined the Science Office team where she can finally lend her talents to her two passions: science and illustration. She is now actively involved in all the company's projects and is discovering the joys of showing science concepts with her designs.

Lee is a science writer from the city of Bristol, UK. He has a degree in Astronomy and a Master's in Science Communication. He began his career writing for organisations including NASA, the European Southern Observatory, and the Hubble European Space Agency Information Centre, as well as becoming Staff Writer for the International Year of Astronomy 2009, the world's largest ever science outreach initiative. While continuing as a freelance writer, Lee then also joined the science centre We The Curious. Here he ran the Planetarium, overseeing its upgrade to fulldome digital 3D - the first of its kind in the country. He was President of the British Association of Planetaria from 2017 to 2019. After 10 years at We The Curious, Lee decided to focus on working as a freelancer, producing content for the European Space Agency's Kids and Education sites, and allowing more time for Science Office projects. Lee's latest mission is making his baby daughter Juno - named after the space probe - into an astronomy geek. She can already say "space", "Moon", and "whoooosh!" so it's going well.

Mariana started her career in science communication in Portugal where she coordinated Centro Multimeios de Espinho, a science centre and planetarium. After completing an MSc in Science Communication in the UK, she went on to work at the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009) Global Secretariat in Munich. She co-founded The Science Office and joined its team as Executive Director in 2010. Since then she oversees the company, is the contact point for the clients and manages all its projects including the ones for the European Space Agency and Europlanet.
Miguel had a lot of jobs and did a lot of things before he realized that what he really wanted to do in life was 3D animations. Good thing he did, because now we can use his talents on our graphics team. Miguel joined the Science Office in 2016.
Paulo Raimundo is not a man of many words, but when it comes to writing music no one can keep him quiet. He has lend his magic musical touch to all The Science Office's videos and television shows, since our very beginning.
Rui was going to be a biologist when he grew up, so he got a degree from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. Then he attended several courses in scientific illustration, became a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, won a scholarship to attend a digital illustration course at the University of California and made a directing course at ETIC. Next thing you know, Rui is making illustrations and animations left and right, for all types of audiovisual content, particularly documentaries and institutional advertising, although scientific illustration remained his favourite. And that's why we got him. Since 2012, anything that moves in a Science Office project, was made by Rui.
