SPEECHTECH VERBATIM REPORTING SERVICES - Key Persons

Darlene Grant

Job Titles:
  • Founder of Speech
Founder of SpeechTech Reporting Services started court reporting in the Brampton courts in 1984. Being a perfectionist she was not content using a typewriter and white-out, so she walked into an Apple dealer and bought an Apple IIc personal computer. Using computer technology allowed her to become increasingly proficient at producing accurate transcripts quickly. The next logical step was Speech Recognition. It was her adeptness at technology and persistence which enabled her to be the forerunner in Speech Technology in Canada. AudioScribe Corporation opened its doors in July 1997 and Darlene bought her first system in November of 1997. AudioScribe is the leader in Speech Recognition Technology for Court Reporters today and Darlene Grant has been partnered with the AudioScribe Corp. as the first Canadian Certified User and Certified Trainer and the only Canadian VAR (value add reseller). Because of her desire for technology she became one of the first beta testers of the system in both the United States and Canada and continues to beta test today. Darlene has trained several reporters to use the system since obtaining it herself. Her technical savvy prompted her to invest in Voice Recognition; which has now given her the ability to whittle her schedule down affording her the luxury of pursuing hobbies such as gardening and camping with her family.
