Christian Fertner

Christian Fertner is a young researcher in urban and regional science at the Centre of Regional Science at the Vienna University of Technology. He studied spatial planning in Vienna and Copenhagen and finished his master in 2006. His research interest includes international urban and regional development, European regional development and co-operation and competition in and between city-regions.

Dr. Evert Meijers

Dr. Evert Meijers is an expert in international comparative research on urban systems. His main research interests include themes such as urban competitiveness, regional development, co-operation between cities and urban governance and planning. He has authored and edited several books on these subjects and his work has been published in a variety of high-ranked international scientific journals. Dr. Meijers is a researcher in the OTB Research Institute for Housing, Urban and Mobility Studies, which is part of Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

Dr. Rudolf Giffinger

Professor Dr. Rudolf Giffinger is an expert in analytical research of urban and regional development. His research mainly concentrates on intra-urban development, urban decay, segregation/integration as well as on urban/metropolitan competitiveness of selected cities and respective strategic issues. He published and edited books, journals and articles on that subjects. He chairs working groups and is member of networks primarily related to urban and regional development in Central and Southeast Europe. Rudolf Giffinger is professor in Regional Science and head of the Centre of Regional Science which is part of the Department of Spatial Development, Infrastructure and Environmental Planning at the Vienna University of Technology.

Hans Kramar

Hans Kramar is assistant professor at the Regional Science Centre of the Department where he does research and teaching in the field of Regional Science and Economic Geography. His recent publications dealt with economic convergence and cohesion policy on a European scale and the spatial dimension of innovation.

Nataša Pichler-Milanovic

Nataša Pichler-Milanovic is a senior researcher at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. She has graduated in Geography and Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Belgrade (Serbia) and London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University of London, UK. She was employed as a researcher and lecturer at universities in Belgrade, London, Tokyo and Ljubljana. Her field of expertise is in housing, urban and regional development, planning and policy analysis. Her current research interests include housing market analysis, urban competitiveness, cooperation and networking, cross-border polycentric development, territorial governance and sustainability analysis. She has authored and edited several books and published articles in a variety of international journals. She is also a peer reviewer for Urban Studies, Housing Studies, Urban Affairs, European Journal of Housing Policy, Progress in Planning. She is an active member of European Network of Housing Research (ENHR) and International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), and consultant for EU, UN and OECD.
