SMITHER MARTIN

Smither, Martin & Henderson, P.C. has a long history of providing legal services to Huntsville and the surrounding area. In 1919, Eugene R. Berry opened a law office on the downtown square. In 1936 Robert B. Smith (1906-1996) joined with Berry to form the firm of Berry and Smith which continued until Berry's death in 1968. In 1970, Lloyd C. Martin (1932-2019) joined the firm which then because known as Smither & Martin. Since the 1970s a number of other prominent attorneys have been associated with the firm. After 43 years of practice with the firm, Joe B. Henderson, Jr., retired at the end 2024 leaving Alvin Lloyd Martin (grandson of Lloyd C. Martin) as the sole shareholder.
