With this sort of project there is a lot of consultation involved. At the outset we meet with the public and discuss different concepts with them. We also work with architects, engineers, surveyors and the client. Because of the high amount of consultation involved, you need to have great communication skills. Some people understand the jargon and can read plans and construction details, while others can not. It is important that the ideas behind the design are communicated to everyone involved in the consultation process. This helps to ensure we receive useful feedback from which to make changes.
