Don's 32 years as a Licensed Building Contractor in St. Petersburg has been entirely devoted to building a community-based business serving homeowners and business owners in the Tampa Bay, Florida region. His belief is that "Friends are clients, and clients are friends." Strobel Design Build has clients today that were clients 25 years ago! Don knows that keeping long-term relationships with clients means giving them an unmatched product and experience. These are the core values that he has built Strobel Design Build on.
Don is proud to be an active founding Board Member of the Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay Affiliate, a national charitable low-income home rehabilitation organization. Recently, Don was honored as one of Studio@620's "Studio Honors Award 2015" recipients for Community Building and Philanthropy. Don has served on St. Petersburg's Environmental Development Commission board for a decade, and as the chairman in 1999. He has been an active Board Member with the Tampa Bay affiliate of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) serving in most of their board positions, from President of the Board to Education Chairman. He has also served at the national level as Chairman of NARI's Educational Certification Committee. In 2009 Don was given the prestigious Harold Hammerman Education Award by NARI.
Don is passionate about designing, building, and remodeling homes. His first job in construction at 13 years old was sweeping out new houses near his parents' home. He worked his way through college as a carpenter and graduated with a BA degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. Continuing studies at the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico City, and travels across the globe have instilled a broad multicultural appreciation into his life's work. Don enjoys spending time with his family and friends by traveling with them around the globe. Don is also a USCG licensed captain and avid outdoorsman spending free time on or in the Gulf, fishing, diving, or paddleboarding.

As our President, Mark is responsible for ensuring the core values and mission of Strobel Design Build are upheld in everything we do. From project conception to post-project follow-up, Mark works closely with our clients and staff. Following in the footsteps of our founder, Mark values the importance of community involvement and education. He is on the Board of Directors for NARI and serves as Chairman of the Education Committee. Mark also has been with Habitat for Humanity for 3 years, first as their Construction Director, then as a Board Member and Construction Committee Chairman, and now as Chairman of the Board for Habitat for Humanity Hillsborough. Playing the piano for over 25 years, he is active in many local music societies and the Florida Orchestra.
Mark completed his BA degree at SUNY Buffalo as a full-time student while working part-time as a carpenter, using the skills he learned from working with his father. He completed his Master's Degree in Aging and Neuroscience at USF College of Medicine. After working in research labs at USF Center of Excellence in Aging and Brain Repair and the Byrd Alzheimer's Institute, he found his calling to use his construction upbringing and medical knowledge to help others. At 28 years old, Mark scored in the 99 th percentile for the State of Florida Certified Building Contractors licensing exam and became a licensed contractor. His background makes Strobel Design Build the area's most qualified Universal Design firm. Mark's strong academic background, lifelong Construction experience, and public service help us continue our reputation of excellence.
