The business began with the founder Tom Sterl, upon his return from World War II. Originally a tool-and-die maker by profession, he was an innovator in building frameless cabinetry designed by his wife Ann. They were truly pioneers in this industry. He made cabinets for his wife, and then for all their friends and relatives. Later, due to economies of scale, they found selling factory manufactured cabinets more cost-effective.
