STL has also an experienced research and development staff that can work with customers on design projects during any stage of the product development cycle... Established in 1979, STL first produced a telephone answering machine based on a dual standard cassette tape drive. The company started with less than 100 employees inside a factory of 7,000 square feet. Later the company designed and manufactured photoflash units to be used on Kodak and Polaroid cameras. At that time the factory has grown to 95,000 square feet and employing 1,200 people.
