Training
A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Professor Beddy completed his radiology training at St James's Hospital, Dublin. He completed his fellowship training in Cambridge University Hospital, Cambridge, UK, the Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.

Professor Byrne is a consultant physician in general internal and geriatric medicine at St James's Hospital. He holds an academic appointment as clinical associate professor in the Department of Medical Gerontology at Trinity College Dublin. He is a fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and Edinburgh.
Professor Byrne was appointed as the clinical director for the Medicine and Emergency Directorate (MED) in 2019 and was the director of postgraduate education on the St James's Hospital campus for the period 2017-2020. As the current regional programme director of the RCPI for Basic Specialist Training in general internal medicine, he oversees the professional development of medical senior house officers (SHOs) training across eleven hospitals in the Dublin Midland Hospital Group (DMHG) region and beyond.
He is additionally trained in the areas of falls and syncope, pharmaceutical medicine and nutrition and dietetics.

Dr Geraldine O'Reilly is chief physicist and head of the Medical Physics and Bioengineering Department (MPBE) in St James's Hospital. The department provides scientific and technical support to clinical users and hospital management and looks after all of the hospital's medical and imaging equipment. Geraldine is also the radiation protection adviser to the hospital.
Geraldine joined the hospital in 1999 and was appointed chief physicist in 2012.
In addition to her hospital role, Geraldine has been actively involved in the development of radiation safety legislation, standards and guidance at a national and international level for the last 20 years. She has served on state boards and advisory committees for regulatory radiation protection agencies and has worked with the International Atomic Energy Agency on a number of technical documents and training activities. She is also one of two Irish experts on an EU group that advises the European Commission on all matters relating to radiation safety and she chairs the subcommittee to that group which looks specifically at the use of ionising radiation in medicine.
Geraldine's academic qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Experimental Physics, MSc and PhD from University College Dublin. She also has a Diploma in Management from Trinity College Dublin (TCD). She is a lecturer on a number of post graduate programmes in TCD and the Royal College of Surgeons.

Dr Hussey is a Professor in Physiotherapy in the School of Medicine and Vice President for Global Relations at Trinity College Dublin. She received her MSc from King's College London and her PhD from Trinity College Dublin. She has been in Trinity College Dublin since 1992 and served as Head of the Discipline of Physiotherapy for 11 years. She was elected to fellowship in 2011. Her research focuses on evaluating exercise interventions aimed at increasing physical performance in patients undergoing treatment for cancer. She has supervised 30 postgraduate students to completion and has published over 75 papers.
Professor Kenny is founding director of the Falls and Syncope Unit at St James's Hospital and Trinity College Dublin. She is head of the Ageing Research Programme at Trinity College Dublin; director of the Mercer's Institute for Successful Ageing and is Chair of the Academic Department of Medical Gerontology.
The focus of her research is on the physiological and biological pathways that underpin vascular biology including modifiable risk factors and novel interventions for syncope, falls and locomotion. For this work she is using clinical cohorts coupled with a large population representative longitudinal study of adults over 50 years, TILDA, which she established.
She was Chair of the Guidelines on Management (diagnosis and treatment) of Syncope 2001 and 2008; member of European Cardiac Society/EHRA Syncope Management taskforce since its foundation in 2014; Chair of the AGS/BGS Guideline for the Prevention of Falls in Older Persons 2001 and 2011; Co-Chair of EU SAPEA Commission on ‘Transforming Ageing in Europe' (present) and has contributed models of care delivery, including syncope in the Emergency Department. She was nominated for BUPA Doctor of the Year for UK Syncope Service.
Professor Kenny has published more than 500 research papers, reviewed articles and book chapters and has received numerous awards for her research and clinical service including membership of the Royal Irish Academy and Lifetime Achievement Award at World Conference Falls and Postural Stability in 2019.

Kieran Ryan was appointed as Managing Director of Surgical Affairs at RCSI in August 2016 where he is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic direction for the Department of Surgical Affairs. Core to this brief is the delivery of RCSI's National Surgical Training Programmes, engagement with its Fellows and Members and specialty groups, promoting RCSI as a world leader in surgical training and medical education and provision of greater support and input to surgical practice. Kieran, as a member of the Senior Management Team at RCSI, also supports RCSI's postgraduate faculties in delivering their remit and strategic objectives.
Prior to joining RCSI, Kieran was Chief Executive Officer of the Irish College of General Practitioners, a post he held since 2011. Prior to this, Kieran worked with the RCSI Department of Surgical Affairs as Research Manager and then Associate Director. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise across the many facets of the healthcare ecosystem having previously worked as Head of Clinical Services in the Hermitage Medical Clinic, Head of Healthcare Practice at Aon Risk Services, GCP inspector with the Irish Medicines Board (now HPRA), Clinical Trials Manager with GSK as well as other clinical research roles with Covance CAPs and ICON.
Kieran holds a BSc (applied) in Chemistry and Mathematics from Kevin Street DIT and Trinity College Dublin, an MSc in Healthcare Ethics and Law and MSc in Healthcare Leadership and Management Development from RCSI.

Mr Aidan Turley was appointed Director of Facilities Management in March 2023, following a two-year interim posting. Aidan first joined St James's Hospital in 2014 as Operations Manager, having spent the previous 18 years in senior management positions across various roles in the construction industry.
He holds a Master's degree in Leadership and Management Practice, as well as Bachelors of Business Studies in Management Finance, Business and Human Resources and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Strategic Project Management.
He is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds an IPMA (International Project Management Association) level C accreditation.
As a former CEO of the Dublin Dental University Hospital for almost 20 years (to 2011), Mr Murray has experience of; strategic planning, development and implementation; the planning and development of physical infrastructure; all operational management of a hospital service, including human resources, finance, corporate governance; patient services; and the planning and implementation of ICT systems. That position required interaction with government departments of health and education, HSE, universities, statutory agencies and other hospitals.
Over many years, Mr Murray has acquired the skills necessary to engage with colleagues on various boards in the health and education spheres to plan and deliver services through chairing or participation in board committees such as finance audit education and research.
Mr Murray has served on several boards and is currently on the Board of Our Lady's Hospice and Care Services, Harold's Cross and Blackrock. Mr Murray is re-appointed to the Board following nomination by the Chairperson of the St James's Hospital Board.

Mr Charles Normand is Professor of Health Policy and Management at Trinity College Dublin and Professor of the Economics of Palliative Care and Rehabilitation at King's College London. His research interests are in economic aspects of health and healthcare provision, with an increasing emphasis in recent years on the economics of ageing and on palliative and end-of-life care. He is a member of the Health Research Board and the Independent Patient Safety Council.
Mr Gleeson, BA, MSc (Mgmt), was Secretary to Trinity College Dublin, 1990-2008, and Director of Strategic Initiatives there from 2008-2011. He has a wide range of experience in corporate governance, strategic planning, risk management and mediation.
He is Chair of the Trustee Board of the Marino Institute of Education and the Royal Dublin Society Foundation Board. He is a member of the Board of the Glasnevin Trust, a School Governor Fellow, and a Pensions Trustee.

Mr Noel Gorman was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer of St James's Hospital in August 2022. Noel joined St James's Hospital in 2020 as Chief Operations Officer, having previously held the positions of Director of Operations and General Services Manager in St Vincent's University Hospital respectively.
Noel has over 20 years' management experience in both the public and private sector. He spent nine years with Kildare County Council as Corporate Buildings Manager with responsibility for energy and facilities management.
In the private sector he held a number of management positions delivering large scale electrical and mechanical projects to industrial and commercial clients.
Noel is committed to the delivery of patient-centered care and operational excellence in service delivery.
Noel holds a BSc in Energy Management and an MA in Leadership and Strategy.

Ms Aisling Collins was appointed Interim Chief Operations Officer in August 2022. Aisling began her career in St James's Hospital where she trained as a pharmacist, leaving briefly to complete a masters in Hospital Pharmacy in Beaumont Hospital.
She returned to St James's Hospital in 2002 and took up the role as Chief II Pharmacist and in 2015 was appointed as Deputy Director of Pharmacy.
Since 2019, she has been working as the Operations Manager for the Medicine and Emergency Directorate (MED).
Aisling has extensive experience in healthcare management and will provide strong strategic, professional and managerial leadership to all operational activity in the hospital.

Catherine was appointed chairperson of the St James's Hospital Board on 8 March 2022. She has served as a non-executive director of the St James's Hospital Board since 2019, was a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and also chaired the Finance Committee of the Board. She has been self employed since 2005, involved primarily in property investment and development. Prior to this, she worked in financial services with Anglo Irish Bank, KBC and IIB.
Catherine is also a non-executive director of The Community Foundation for Ireland, one of Ireland's leading philanthropic organisations, which provides donor services and strategic community grants. She also served as a non-executive director with the Dublin Docklands Development Agency from 2007 to 2012 and was a member of the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee and chair of the Arts and Culture Committee.
Catherine graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1988 from UCD and subsequently qualified as a certified accountant (ACCA) in 1992. In 2017, she completed the Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction with the Institute of Directors.

Sharon has over 30 years of experience in working in an acute academic teaching hospital, with 15 years of experience working in senior leadership roles. She has worked internationally and has held multiple promotional posts within St. James's Hospital, Dublin. In the autumn of 2018, she was appointed as the hospital's Director of Nursing.
Sharon has a special interest in developing nursing roles. She has collaborated closely with the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) and their Clinical Care Programmes in developing, appointing and supporting advanced nursing practice posts for both Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners through clinical leadership and research.
Sharon is presently leading on the Magnet4Europe Project in her organisation which is presently seeking the achievement of the Pathway to Excellence Programme ® award. Sharon is also a Florence Nightingale Global Scholar and an Adjunct Associate Professor in Trinity College Dublin.
Sharon's focus has always been, and will continue to be, directed towards working with her nursing team to ensure positive experiences for patients and improved patient outcomes for those in the care of St James's Hospital. Sharon's work ethos is built on collaboration, transactional leadership, strategic thinking, constructive engagement with change, integrity and promoting innovation. She describes herself as having a passionate belief in the value and hugely important role that the nursing profession has to offer.

Susan Holburn joined St James's Hospital from Aptiv PLC, a global technology company, headquartered in Dublin and listed on the NYSE, where she held the role of Head of Corporate Governance EMEA since February 2020.
Prior to joining Aptiv PLC, Susan was Company Secretary of Malin Corporation plc (‘'Malin'') from March 2019 to January 2020. Malin is a publicly listed company, investing in life sciences companies with a focus on oncology, immunology and genetic diseases. Prior to joining Malin, Susan was Company Secretary of IPL Plastics Inc. (previously One Fifty One plc) for 15 years, a leading sustainable packaging solutions provider which was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. She was also previously Company Secretary of the Irish Agricultural Wholesale Society Ltd, Assistant Company Secretary of IAWS Group, plc (now Aryzta AG) and also held roles in the banking and educational industries.
