  • Company 's Founder
Platinum Group's Founder, Dean Bachelor, passed away in 2021. Dean created the foundation that supports Platinum's ongoing success. We honor him here. Dean has been named CEO of more than three dozen companies in a turnaround. He has a knack for discovering, unlocking and focusing on the true, inherent value of every organization, then finding unique and creative ways to restore and manage shareholder value. A consummate turnaround artist, Dean often radically changes the fortunes of those who are experiencing extraordinarily difficult times. He received the Turnaround Management Association's Turnaround of the Year (2004) and Transaction of the Year (2009) Awards. As founder and Chairman, Dean works with each of the firm's Managing Partners to restore shareholder value in a turnaround, enhance value during a consulting engagement, or realize value through a transaction or capital formation. Meaningful, because the work we do has significant meaning to the shareholders, investor, boards of directors, officers, employees and stakeholders of every client we serve and every company we own. Meaningful, because we care about these people. Meaningful, because our special knowledge and decades of experience leading companies through critical transitions have saved thousands of jobs, reversed downward slides of hundreds of companies, prevented corporate and personal bankruptcies, as well as provided a safe haven for people in serious trouble. Meaningful, because when people are in trouble, they need a friend to turn to who can understand the pain they are feeling, the hopelessness they may not be able to share with anyone else, and the frustration of not understanding or knowing what to do to help themselves. We at Platinum understand, empathize and are uniquely capable of stepping into and leading them and their companies through this critical transition in their lives and businesses with the goal of restoring, enhancing and realizing the inherent value in each business. This is truly meaningful work. Capitalism, because it is the engine that provides economic freedom in the United States, the greatest country on earth; a country based on "freedom and liberty for all" through the development and preserving of the free enterprise system. Capitalism, because the founders of this country understood that free markets and free people provide an environment for individuals to achieve their dreams. Capitalism, although imperfect, still provides the best way for people to hold their heads high with pride in the fruits of their labor, earning a fair wage for the value they bring to the table. Capitalism, because we at Platinum believe each and every person has the opportunity to accomplish his or her own personal goals without reducing or harming another. Capitalism, because the building and accumulation of wealth can benefit in very real, tangible ways individuals, families, communities and charitable organizations. Capitalism, because within every human being exists the innate desire to achieve a goal, fulfill a purpose in life and become what he or she is capable of becoming. Capitalism, because the business advice, business transition, family business and business turnaround services we provide may make the critical difference for small and mid-sized businesses that find themselves in difficult times.
