Tom Tucker, Hal and Mary Sadler started Tucker Sadler in 1957 when Hal and Mary moved to San Diego and began collaborating with Tom Tucker to design their first architectural project while moonlighting from beyond their daytime jobs. Tucker Sadler was born.
Both Tom and Hal were architects and Mary an interior designer and led the interior designs for Tucker Sadler Architects. The team continued to grow with Art Castro, COO joining in 1977 and Greg Mueller, CEO joining in 2003. In 2009, Tom Tucker was awarded the French Legion of Honor Chevalier Medal for his contribution to Ally efforts during World War II. Hal Sadler remained involved with Tucker Sadler Architects by providing architectural design input and chairman of the board until his passing in February 2022. Hal Sadler was recognized by the Rotary Club of San Diego as Mr. San Diego and was also recognized by the American Institute of Architects with the California Council of Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the architectural profession.
