KEITH M. STOLTE

Keith joined TottisLaw in July 2019. He has over 20 years experience in the fields of trademark, copyright and unfair competition counseling and litigation, patent litigation, including Hatch-Waxman generic drug cases, trade secrets litigation and general commercial litigation throughout the United States. He has been a prolific author on intellectual property matters and has given scholarly presentations on intellectual property law for Law Seminars International and the John Marshall Law School of the University of Illinois at Chicago. Keith received a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Chicago and his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from The John Marshall Law School of the University of Illinois at Chicago. While in law school, Keith was elected to the Board of the John Marshall Law Review where he served as of Executive Editor of Student Publications. He was also active in the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition. He was named an IP Star by MANAGING IP MAGAZINE in 2013, 2014 and 2015. An advocate for historical preservation, Keith was a principal member of a local community group that was awarded the Landmarks Illinois Award for Advocacy and the City of Chicago Preservation Advocacy Award in 2018. He and other local community leaders secured landmark status in record time for the West Burton Place Historic District, an enclave of artist studios formed during the 1920s through the 1970s. His book, Chicago Artist Studios, was published in 2019 by the History Press.

Max A. Stein

Max works with clients to cost-effectively solve problems. Usually that means litigating, where Max has wide-ranging experience in state and federal courts. Sometimes it means finding creative solutions to their disputes. What it also means, though, is giving them practical advice for their businesses. Over the years Max has litigated and resolved contract disputes, trademark and trade secret cases, partnership and shareholder disputes, civil RICO and securities fraud claims, legal malpractice cases, bank and loan-related claims and consumer fraud matters. He also has represented parties in commercial real estate disputes, including both landlords and tenants, and on issues relating to condominium associations. In addition to his extensive trial and appellate experience, outside the courtroom, Max regularly advises clients on a wide array of legal and business issues.

MONICA L. THOMPSON

Monica joined TottisLaw in December 2015. She has over 30 years of litigation experience representing clients in the manufacturing, medical device, financial services and consumer product sectors throughout the United States. She's tried cases in federal district courts around the country and appeared before appellate panels, arbitration panels and bankruptcy courts. She is a frequent speaker on litigation procedure and intellectual property issues and is on the faculty of the Practicing Law Institute. She's rated by her peers as AV Preeminent in the Martindale Hubble listings, and repeatedly has been named as an Illinois Super Lawyer by a Thomson Reuters rating service of outstanding lawyers. Monica served on advisory boards for a number of professional organizations. In addition to trial work, Monica also provides transactional advice and general counseling services related to intellectual property. She has drafted licenses for domestic and international use, handled performance issues arising in outsourcing contracts, conducted IP audits for multi-national organizations and evaluated security measures used to protect trade secrets. Monica has been involved in community and volunteer programs including the WITS reading program and programs at St. Clement in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. She received her J.D. from Washington University after obtaining a BA from the University of Louisville.

Tiffany Lopez

Since joining TottisLaw in 2006, Tiffany has handled matters in a variety of areas including patent, false advertising, unfair competition and the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. In addition, Tiffany was part of the trial team that successfully defended a real estate developer against breach of warranty and fraud claims, resulting in an award of attorneys fees to the client. Prior to joining the firm, Tiffany worked as an associate in the London offices of an American firm where she focused on commercial and financial matters for both U.S. and foreign corporations, particularly in technology-related industries. Tiffany has also worked as an associate in an intellectual property boutique focusing extensively on patent and trademark law. Tiffany received her undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama, Hunstville (B.S.E.E., summa cum laude, 1995) and her J.D. from The University of Chicago (1998). She is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the American and Chicago Bar Associations.
