Dr Denis Doyle is the founder and principal at Resonance Consulting and Coaching Limited, which specialises in executive level leadership development and supporting companies in strategic planning. Dr. Doyle is an EMCC accredited Executive Coach.
Dr Doyle is the former Vice President & General Manager US & Ireland Manufacturing Operations at Analog Devices, heading up the company's 4 silicon chip fabrication facilities. Headquartered in Massachusetts, Analog Devices makes silicon chips for cellular base stations, vehicles, robots and other applications. The company employs 1,150 people at its Limerick facility on the Raheen Campus, and a further 100 at a design centre in Cork.
Dr. Doyle was made an ADI Fellow in 2001 and developed many of the company's specialised silicon technologies.

Dr. Aidan Quinn is Head of the Nanotechnology Group at the Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork, Ireland. The group's research programme includes development of chemical synthesis, molecular self-assembly and agile processing routes for scalable fabrication and integration of nanostructures and electrodes. Applications include nanoscale sensing and energy storage, novel graphene-based transparent electrodes and resistive memories. He has published over 60 papers in leading peer-reviewed journals and has filed two patent applications.
Aidan has extensive experience in national and international research initiatives. He has participated in research projects within the EU Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes' Esprit, Marie Curie, IST, IHP, ICT, NMP, Environment and Security actions. Within FP7, Aidan coordinated the FP7 NMP project FUNMOL, and currently co-ordinates the Environment project ECO-India and the Security project ROSFEN. Nationally, he has participated in the Irish Government Higher Education Authority PRTLI Cycles 1, 3, 4 & 5 Initiatives and currently leads the PRLTI-5 TYFFANI programme. He was an investigator in Science Foundation Ireland's Research Frontiers Programme, a co-investigator in the FORME Strategic Research Cluster and is a funded investigator in the CONNECT SFI Centre. He co-wrote the successful proposal for the Tyndall-led Technology Centre, the Collaborative Centre in Applied Nanotechnology (CCAN).
Aidan has acted as a consultant on future research directions in Nanotechnology in Ireland, both as a member of the ICSTI Nanotechnology Task Force and a panel member of the Forfás NanoIreland Technology Assessment Exercise.
He lectures (part-time) to undergraduates and postgraduates in the Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Physics departments at UCC on Nanoelectronics (UE6005) and Computational Physics (PY2105), respectively. He has acted as external examiner for Ph.D. candidates in Ireland, the Netherlands and Sweden and has delivered invited tutorial presentations at postgraduate summer schools in Italy and the United Kingdom.
Aidan is a member of the Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, the American Vacuum Society and the Materials Research Society. He has acted as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, including Advanced Materials, IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology and Small.

Patricia returned to Brussels to serve as Head of Cabinet to Commissioner McGuinness in 2022, prior to which she was Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer with the Irish Department of Agriculture.
From 2010-2014 she was a member of Commissioner Máire Geoghegan-Quinn's cabinet, where she had responsibility for research and innovation policy in areas including the bioeconomy and health. Before returning home from Brussels, Patricia was Deputy Head of Cabinet to Commissioner Tibor Navracsics, where in addition to management aspects, she had portfolio responsibility for the Joint Research Centre, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Higher Education and innovation in education. Patricia has also worked in Poland as Ireland's first Agricultural Attaché in Central Europe.
Patricia is a veterinary surgeon, and holds an MSc in European Food Regulation as well as diplomas from the King's Inns and the Law Society of Ireland. She is currently working towards a PhD with the Institute of Public Administration.

Professor Birgitte Bak-Jensen (Senior IEEE member 2012) received her M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and a Ph.D. degree in "Modelling of High Voltage Components" in 1992, from the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Denmark.
From 1986-1988, she was with Electrolux Elmotor A/S, Aalborg, Denmark as an Electrical Design Engineer. She is now Professor in Intelligent Control of the Power Distribution System at the Department of Energy, AAU Energy, Aalborg University, where she has worked since 1988.
Professor Bak-Jensen is also Vice Chair of AAU Energy, with responsibility for research. Her fields of interest are mainly related to the operation and control of the distribution network grid including multi-energy systems, demand response, power quality and stability in power systems taking integration of dispersed generation and smart grid issues into account.
She is now PI of two European H2020 projects SERENE and SUSTENANCE.

Professor John F. Cryan is Vice President for Research & Innovation at University College Cork, where he holds the Chair in the Dept of Anatomy & Neuroscience and is also a Principal Investigator in APC Microbiome Ireland. A graduate of NUI Galway ( BSc Biochemistry, 1995; PhD Pharmacology, 1999), he was a visiting fellow at the University of Melbourne, Australia, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA and The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California. He spent four years in the pharmaceutical industry as a Lab Head with Novartis in Basel, Switzerland, prior to joining UCC in 2005 as a joint appointment between the new School of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. He became Full Professor and Head of Dept of Anatomy & Neuroscience in 2011. He served on UCC's Governing Body from 2016 to 2021. He became a member of the Royal Irish Academy in 2017 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Antwerp in 2018.
Prof Cryan has published over 575 peer reviewed publications across a range of high-profile journals (e.g. Science, Nature Aging, Lancet Neurology, Nature Reviews, Cell Metabolism, Neuron, PNAS, Molecular Psychiatry) and has a h-index of 132 (Google Scholar). He has earned in excess of 23 million Euro in research funding and has received many awards including a Research Award in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Utrecht University in 2013, the Tom Connor Distinguished Scientist Award from Neuroscience Ireland in 2017 and was named the inaugural UCC Scientist of the Year in 2012. He also received prestigious research awards from the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology, British Association of Psychopharmacology, Neurobehavioral Teratology Society and European Behavioural Pharmacology Society. He is immediate Past-President of the European Behavioural Pharmacology Society and has been recognised by Thomson Reuters/Clarivate as one of world's most highly cited scientists in 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 and again in 2020. He serves as Senior Editor of three journals - Neuropharmacology, Neurobiology of Stress and Nutritional Neuroscience, and is on the Editorial Boards of a further 15 journals and co-edited four books.
Professor Cryan has trained more than 40 PhD students to completion and more than 20 of his trainees have taken up academic posts around the world with many more having successful careers in industry. He was recognized with an Research Mentor Award from the American Gastroenterology Society in 2017. He has developed strong collaborations with the pharmaceutical, food and medical device industries being named on 11 patents and 3 licences and holds two commercialisation awards from UCC. Professor Cryan is a strong advocate for the value of increased education and public engagement of our research endeavours and has given high profile talks at TEDMED, Wired Health and The World Government Summit. He was named UCC Science Communicator of the Year in 2017 and is frequently featured in the global news media (New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Sunday Times, Fox News, Nature and Der Spiegel in the past 2 years alone). He is co-author of the bestselling book "The Psychobiotic Revolution: Mood, Food, and the New Science of the Gut-Brain Connection" published by National Geographic which has already been translated into Chinese, Spanish and Polish.

Richard Penty is Professor of Photonics at Cambridge University and Master of Sussex College. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
His main research interests lie in the field of photonics. He has worked for many years on short reach photonic networks for in-building links. This included working on the ethernet standards and is now concentrating on advanced modulation format approaches to realising 100Gb/s photonic links using a single optical source. In parallel he has research on polymer waveguide links and sub-systems for on-board and board to board, including backplane, applications.
He is involved in research studying the energy efficiency of photonic networks and how these can be improved, in co-operation with higher layers in the network stack, to provide better energy efficiency for the internet. His research on radio over fibre for in-building radio coverage has resulted in the spin out Zinwave.
He has also carried out research on broad area RFID systems, where the detection range of passive RFID tags has been greatly improved. Research is now continuing on localisation using passive RFID. The spin out company PervasID has been formed to commercialise the RFID research.
Within Cambridge he chairs the School of Technology's Research Committee and is a member of the University's Research Policy Committee. He has served on various boards including being a Director of Zinwave, eComm and PervasID. He has formerly been on the technical advisory boards of PHYworks Ltd and Applied Micro Circuits Corporation and is currently on the TAB of Zinwave and PervasID. He has served on the advisory boards of EPSRC III-V Epitaxy Centre and the SFI PIFAS project. In 2015/16 he was a member of UCC's Research Assessment panel as well as being Chair of the Research Review of Technical University Denmark's Fotonik Department.
He is currently a member of the EPSRC College and reviews grant applications for a wide range of international organisations including SFI, DAAD, QNRF, the Hong Kong grant body etc. He is a regular reviewer for IEEE and OSA journals and is the Editor-in-Chief of IET Optoelectronics. He has served as a TPC member for major international conferences such as OFC, CLEO etc. and was/is co-chair of the local organising committee for ECIO 2010 and QCRYPT 2017.
Richard is the co-author of in excess of 700 refereed papers and is a regular invited speaker at conferences. He is the Programme Director of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Photonic Systems Development. He is a founder of Zinwave, PervasID and EComm.

Steven A. Ringel is a Distinguished University Professor and holds the Neal Smith Endowed Chair in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ohio State, where he also serves as the Associate Vice President for Research and the Executive Director of Ohio State's Institute for Materials Research. Steve is internationally recognized for his seminal contributions in the field of electronic materials and devices. His research focuses on photovoltaics, wide bandgap semiconductors used in power and RF electronics, materials characterization methods, epitaxial growth and integration of compound semiconductors with silicon. In these fields, Steve has authored/co-authored > 450 technical articles and conference presentations, given > 200 invited talks, edited several books and contributed many book chapters. Among his honors, Steve is a Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of AAAS, Associate Fellow of AIAA, former NSF National Young Investigator, and with his students have together received 10 best paper/presentation awards. In addition to being an Ohio State Distinguished University Professor, Ohio State's highest faculty title, Steve has been honored with the Ohio State Distinguished Scholar Award - the university's highest recognition for scholarly achievement, and the following OSU College of Engineering recognitions: Scott Award, Harrison Award, 4 Lumley research awards, and the College Faculty Mentoring Award. Ringel holds leadership and board positions at several organizations in Singapore, Ireland and India and he is a current distinguished visiting professor at IIT-Bombay. Professor William Scanlon was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for Tyndall National Institute in September 2018. William has over 20 years of experience of leading and managing research and innovation in an academic context and 10 years of industry experience. He is a recognised pioneer in wearables and medical device communications research, a technology entrepreneur and an accomplished academic in the area of wireless innovation and communications.
William was Chair of Wireless Communications (full professor) at Queen's University Belfast since 1998 and was Head of School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen's immediately prior to joining Tyndall. He has also held a part-time Chair in Short Range Radio at the University of Twente, The Netherlands.
He has also held a number of commercial roles, including co-founder and Managing Director of a spin-out company that focused on real time location systems, as well as engineering roles with Siemens, Nortel Networks and Osram.

Sean O'Sullivan founded SOSV in 1995 to invest into private technology startups. In 2007, Sean began aggressively expanding SOSV, transitioning it from a Sean O'Sullivan personal investment vehicle into a venture capital organisation which today has over 90 staff supporting investments in over 150 new startups every year. In 2018, SOSV has 8 general partners, operating globally, with SOSV's major offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taipei, San Francisco, New York, Cork, and London.
Sean O'Sullivan got his entrepreneurial start in 1985 as a founder of MapInfo, bringing street mapping technology to personal computers. MapInfo went on to become a $200 million public company with over 1,000 employees worldwide. In 1996, while at the helm of his second company, NetCentric, he created "software for inside the Internet" and is credited with co-creating the term "cloud computing" alongside George Favaloro from Compaq.
Sean has continued as a visionary entrepreneur and investor, creating and supporting a range of business, humanitarian and educational endeavors. A major promoter of economic and social development, he founded JumpStart International in 2003. JumpStart was a leading humanitarian engineering organisation based in Baghdad and which operated throughout Iraq during the post-war period of 2003-2006. He spent a few years running JumpStart, which for a time had a staff of over 3000, running up to 80 projects at a time in Fallujah, Najaf and the Baghdad region. As benefactor of the http://sosf.us/, Sean has also been a primary funder of organisations such as the http://www.khanacademy.org/, Mathletes and CoderDojo.
As founding Chairman of the Irish Entrepreneurship Forum and founder of Open Ireland, he has been a leader and influencer of Irish government policy in fueling economic growth and recovery in the technology sector. Sean was a regular investment panelist on the popular RTÉ TV show Dragon's Den, and occasional columnist for the Sunday Business Post.
