Adam Gravley has over three decades experience representing both public and private clients in environmental law with a particular focus on resolving water issues in operational, transactional, litigation, and public policy settings. His comprehensive practice includes water rights permitting, transfers, and appeals; general stream adjudications; settlement, mediation, and collaborative resolutions; water supply agreements; public water system and drinking water regulation; water quality regulation and resource protection; entity and regional governance; legislation and agency rule-making; and related real estate, municipal, and public utility law matters. Complementing his natural resources experience, Adam has significant experience leading transactional due diligence teams and providing strategic advice for complex real property and natural resources transactions. Anne Hertel is a Senior Paralegal in our Seattle office who supports transactional practice attorneys with management on complex land use and real property matters for both public and private clients. She has nearly 15 years' experience providing a range of legal and organizational assistance in areas such as purchase and sale agreements, leases, and numerous other agreements related to the development, ownership, and use of assets. She is highly skilled at legal research, recording, and monitoring transactions throughout their life-cycle. She has a comprehensive understanding of the firm's transactional capabilities and supports ongoing efforts to develop and build strong client relationships for the practice. Anne brings the highest level of attentiveness, professionalism, and service to her work for Van Ness Feldman's clients. April Knight focuses her practice on environmental law, trial and appellate litigation, investigations, hydropower, and climate policy. April assists in matters involving the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rulemakings. During law school, April was a law clerk and summer associate with the firm, supporting attorneys on hydro, cybersecurity, and litigation matters. At the U.S. Senate, she was a law clerk for Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), supporting the senator's Judiciary Committee attorneys in reviewing legislation, drafting vote recommendations, and preparing documents for Judiciary Committee hearings. At the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, she served as a judicial intern for Judge Rudolph Contreras, drafting judicial opinions, minute orders and memoranda on various civil cases.  April is committed to promoting diversity in the legal profession. During law school, she served as Private Sector Chair for the Georgetown Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. April also was an editor for the American Criminal Law Review, the nation's premier criminal law journal, publishing and editing for the law journal's online platform.  April's community involvement has included supporting the Humane Society of St. Thomas and the nonprofit organization, My Brother's Workshop.
