Wakeland was founded in 1998 as a nonprofit corporation. With our for-profit and nonprofit partners, we have developed, acquired and rehabilitated 7,500 units of affordable housing over the years, emerging as a leader in affordable housing communities in San Diego and throughout California... Wakeland works with a variety of municipalities, developers and redevelopment agencies throughout California. We utilize federal, state and local funding resources including tax exempt bonds and tax credits and leverage other funds from the private and public sectors... We are extremely proud to announce that Wakeland's former Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Louie has been promoted as our new President and CEO. Wakeland's Board of Directors has selected her to succeed founding President and CEO Ken Sauder, who has retired after 23 years building our organization into a leading developer of affordable housing in California.
