WINGS - Key Persons

Byrd Smith

Byrd Smith started hunting at eight years old when his Dad bought him a single shot .410 and taught him how to hunt rabbits and squirrels. At 18, he began hunting big game and chasing wild wings, which grew into a passion for hunting and just spending time outdoors. Now, having hunted birds and big game on four continents and five Canadian provinces, he has developed a world of experience in our business. He met Don at Safari Club and booked his first hunt with Wings in 2006. He has been a traveling Wings client for the last 15 years and has hunted with Wings in Argentina, Mexico, and New Zealand. Byrd recently retired as vice president of Southeastern sales for Advantage Marketing Solutions, a major food marketing firm in Charlotte. He has joined Wings as a marketing team member, continuing his lifetime passion on a more formal basis. With his vast sporting and business experience and knowledge, he will be a great asset to Wings clients and friends in developing and booking trips around the globe. He will also be responsible for developing some big game adventures, a new arena for Wings involvement. As a highly experienced hunting traveler, he knows that our sporting travel offers much more than just hunting trips. He understands the importance of the comradery developed while making new friends and spending time with old friends and family. He's fully aware that these experiences of visiting new places, trying new foods, and laughing with new and old friends create memories of a lifetime.
