Christopher Newman

  • EIT Geomechanical Engineer
Chris is joined AME in 2018. His experience working in and designing underground mines has provided our clients with both technical and practical solutions. Chris graduated with a doctorate from the University of Kentucky with interests in rock/geo mechanics, blasting, numerical modeling, instrumentation, and sustainable design. Since joining AME, Chris has pursued a "Boots on the Ground" engineering approach, visiting clients on-site and developing a business relationship in the field.

David Newman - President

​After obtaining a doctorate in Mining Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, Dave came to Lexington as an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky. Although enjoying his work in academia, Dave admitted that he missed working within the mining industry. It was in 1985 that Dave opened the doors of AME and since then, has dedicated his time to both office and field work. Although contributing most of his time as an industry consultant, Dave has maintained his reputation within academia presenting papers at a variety of mining conferences and workshops.

John Schapley

Job Titles:
  • Engineering Technician
Joining AME in 2019, John has quickly proven himself running the day to day operations in GEOLAB. With great attention to detail, John logs and prepares rock for for laboratory testing and geomechanical analysis as well as helping AME with the development of numerical models and datalogging systems.
