Dr. Mackenzie Springman

Job Titles:
  • Staff Audiologist
Dr. Mackenzie Springman has always had a desire to help improve people's quality of life. As a child she frequently had ear infections which lead to multiple ear surgeries. Her passion for Audiology grew from her own life experiences with her ears and hearing. She believes better hearing and communication skills can greatly impact people's quality of life for the better and strives to reach optimal results for her patients. Dr. Mackenzie joined Amy Swain Hearing Centers back in 2020 as a graduate student. She earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2016. She then went on to obtain her Doctorate in Audiology at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. During her time at the University of Cincinnati, she conducted a research study on musicians to help create a hearing conservation program. The purpose of the study was to find a way to help minimize noise induced hearing loss while they practice and perform their instruments. For many musicians they rely heavily on their hearing, and it is important to preserve it for their jobs. She also earned a certificate in Animal Audiology where she would perform hearing tests on dogs. The way we test a dog's hearing is by use of an ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response) using electrodes on the dog's head that pick up on the brain's response to a stimulus as we play sounds in their ears. This is similar to the way we are able to test an infant's hearing! Dr. Mackenzie works in the Rochester and Austin locations. Outside of the office, Dr. Mackenzie enjoys spending time with her husband Joseph and son Jameson, taking care of her two cats Harley and Quinn, and going up to her parent's cabin in Outing, MN.
