Adrienne M. Harrison - COO

Adrienne M. Harrison has spent twenty years as a military leader and private sector executive. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, she held a variety of leadership positions as a multifunctional logistics officer across three combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Adrienne played an integral role in the Army's change management process aimed at completely transforming the way logistics and life support operations are conducted on the battlefield to meet the challenges posed by the complexities of the War on Terror. She subsequently served as an assistant professor of American history at West Point. Her military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, and the Combat Action Badge. Adrienne holds MA and PhD degrees from Rutgers University. She has lectured extensively on the colonial period, the American Revolution, and George Washington's presidential administration. She is the author of A Powerful Mind: The Self-Education of George Washington (University of Nebraska Press). Additionally, she has authored book chapters and articles and appeared as a featured expert in documentaries aired on the History Channel, C-SPAN, and Fox News. After concluding her Army service, she entered the corporate world and held several executive roles, most recently acting as chief of staff at East Coast Warehouse and Distribution Corporation. Adrienne resides with her family in Hawthorne, New Jersey, and is the chief operating officer and a senior historian of Battlefield Leadership, LLC.

Christina Vasile

After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Montclair State University with a degree in Business Administration, Christina served in multiple client service roles. This experience, coupled with an affinity for mathematics, has fueled her passion for helping businesses bridge the gap between numbers and people. At Battlefield Leadership, Christina is responsible for managing the company's day-to-day accounting, maintaining accounts payable and receivable, and implementing financial systems to streamline procedures. She currently lives in Richmond, VA.

Colonel Kevin W. Farrell

Colonel Kevin W. Farrell, PhD, spent over thirty years in uniform and commanded at the platoon, company, and battalion levels. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, he served as an armor officer in a variety of leadership assignments in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East and led American soldiers in combat in three different wars. He acted as an advisor to the Afghan National Army and, most significantly, as the commander of a 1,000-soldier combined arms battalion conducting extended combat operations in East Baghdad, Iraq. He also served on senior-level staffs in Germany and the United States and was visiting professor to the George C. Marshall Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Kevin's most recent military assignment was as a tenured professor, chief of military history, at West Point. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, and the Combat Action Badge. Kevin holds MA, MPhil, and PhD degrees from Columbia University in New York. His most recent book is The Military and the Monarchy: The Case and Career of the Duke of Cambridge in an Age of Reform (North Georgia University Press, 2011). A recognized authority on military history and leadership, Kevin has also authored numerous journal articles and book chapters, edited two books, and appeared internationally as a featured expert on PBS and the History Channel, as well as on British, German, and French television. He was the senior military advisor to the Brad Pitt Hollywood film Fury, released in October 2014. Kevin resides with his family in Greenville, South Carolina, and is President and Chief Executive Officer of Battlefield Leadership, LLC.

Colonel Michael A. Bonura

Colonel Michael A. Bonura served for over 25 years in the United States Army. A 1997 graduate of the United States Military Academy, he spent the first 12 years of his career as an armor officer commanding an M1A1 Tank Platoon in Vilseck, Germany, and an armored cavalry troop at Camp Garry Owen, Korea. He completed his time as an armor officer by serving as a Unit Trainer for the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Tennessee National Guard, preparing them for combat operations in Iraq and serving as an assistant professor of history at the United States Military Academy where he prepared future leaders of the Army. In 2009, Mike became an Army nuclear and countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD) officer where he served as a program manager and test group director for Air Force and Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) hard target defeat programs at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. He then served as the chief WMD advisor for US Northern Command's Joint Task Force Civil Support, the DOD's active-duty domestic consequence management headquarters, where he worked with WMD experts including those among the interagency, National Laboratories, National Guard and state agencies, and corporate partners. Mike finished his career as the senior technical advisor to US Strategic Command's director of plans and policy where he collaborated with experts in the National Laboratories, DTRA, and academia to ensure that Strategic Command improved their modeling, simulation, and analytical capabilities for strategic deterrence. Mike holds MA and PhD degrees in history from Florida State University, an MS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of New Mexico, and an MA in National Security Studies from the Naval War College. A recognized expert on the history of science and technology, 19th century Europe and the United States, and deterrence, his published works include numerous articles and Under the Shadow of Napoleon: French Influence on the American Way of Warfare from the War of 1812 to the Outbreak of World War II. Mike resides with his family in Lawrence, Kansas.

Colonel Steven T. Barry

Colonel Steven T. Barry is a 1996 graduate of the United States Military Academy and a career Armored Cavalry officer. Currently serving as an assistant professor at the National War College, he recently completed command of the oldest standing Joint Task Force-Joint Task Force-Bravo in Central America. Steve has commanded at the platoon, company, battalion, and brigade levels and served in a variety of leadership assignments in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. In addition to commanding Joint Task Force-Bravo in Honduras, his notable past assignments include: serving on the Joint Staff, J5 (Strategic Policy and Plans); commanding the 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment at Fort Carson, Colorado, where he established the first Double-V Hulled Stryker Squadron in the Army; supervising personnel actions for all Armored Cavalry Colonels as the Armor Colonel Human Resource Manager in Colonels Management; serving as a squadron executive officer in Mosul, Iraq, for 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment and the 2nd Brigade Combat Team executive officer to prepare for deployment to Afghanistan; and commanding C Company, 4th Battalion, 64th Armor during the attack to seize Baghdad in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Headquarters Company, 4-64 AR in Fallujah. His military decorations include the Ranger Tab, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Combat Action Badge, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star. A recognized expert on military effectiveness and leadership development, Steve authored several key strategic documents and assessments while serving on the Joint Staff. He holds a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in History from The Ohio State University. He has served as an assistant professor of history at West Point and a teaching fellow at Georgetown, and his published work includes Battalion Commanders at War and History of the Military Art Since 1914, 3rd edition.

Dianne Falk

Dianne Falk brings over two decades of executive experience to her work, sharing lessons learned while delivering large-scale complex programs, overseeing post-merger integration activities, leading high-performing teams, and managing day-to-day operations. A former Military Intelligence Officer for the US Army, she also worked in the Pentagon as an operational research analyst and led strategic planning and programming at a federal defense agency. During her 10-year tenure in financial services/banking, she consistently interacted with C-Suite executives and interfaced regularly with external regulators during times of tumultuous change in the industry. Dianne founded her own company, Create Greater Impact, in 2010 and provides executive coaching, team coaching, facilitation, and health coaching services to clients all over the world. In addition to her military background, she comes to Battlefield Leadership with a coaching philosophy rooted in the disciplines of neuroscience, emotional intelligence, and positive psychology. She specializes in helping executives successfully navigate the politics and pressure in today's workplace, working with them to maximize their emotional intelligence, enhance their executive presence, and bring their actions into alignment with their goals. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Dianne earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. She also holds a Master of Science degree in business administration from Boston University and was trained at Georgetown University as an ICF PCC Certified Coach. She and her family live in Raleigh, NC.

Elissa Sterry

Elissa Sterry retired from ExxonMobil in 2017, following a 37-year career during which she held a number of senior leadership positions at the corporate and business unit levels and was responsible for identifying and developing senior leadership talent and managing highly diverse teams. Through these experiences, Elissa gained a passion for leadership excellence and additionally became a recognized speaker on ExxonMobil's outlook for energy and energy-related issues. She has traveled around the world to speak with government officials, government agencies, think tanks, NGOs, investors, national oil company executives, and university students on energy-related matters. Elissa holds bachelor of science and master of engineering degrees from Cornell University.

J.J. Puryear

Before joining the Battlefield Leadership team, J.J. spent over 20 years developing branding for a broad range of companies such as the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, BMW, Michelin, Firehouse Subs, Costa Sunglasses, Milliken, Verizon Wireless, Denny's, and DreamWorks Pictures. His work has frequently been recognized in prestigious advertising shows such as regional and national AAAwards, W3 Awards, the Art Directors Show, OBIE, and Graphis. J.J. brings a one-on-one environment to each Battlefield Leadership experience and works with each client to give a tenured and professional approach to building their brand, as well as Battlefield Leadership's. He does this by integrating packaging, print, promotions, web, video, and traditional advertising to develop each specific client experience.

James Czupil

James Czupil is a former human resources executive at The Hershey Company with 25 years of experience in global executive development, diversity, and compensation. He also worked for Bank of America where he developed executives from across the enterprise. A graduate of Penn State University with a BA in marketing, James also holds an MA from Saint Francis University in industrial relations. At both Hershey and Bank of America, he excelled at facilitating strategy and business development sessions with global teams. His role at Battlefield Leadership is to ensure that our team fully explores clients' leadership and business challenges and helps them create workable plans to move their companies forward.

Madison Doise

Job Titles:
  • Senior Logistics Coordinator
Madison Doise is an experienced travel and event planner with a talent for fostering growth and connection. Based in Richmond, Virginia, she serves as Battlefield Leadership's senior logistics coordinator, helping execute all field and classroom programs. Communicating with clients prior to each program, Madison works with vendors to verify reservations are in order and is always present to ensure both facilitators and participants have everything they need for a positive experience. She holds bachelor's degrees in business communications and international business from Liberty University, and her background includes fundraising and varied work in the nonprofit sector. Additionally, she's assisted organizations that serve the homeless population of Richmond and seek to reduce human trafficking.

Major General Brian Winski

Major General Brian Winski retired as a two-star general from the US Army in 2021. During his thirty-seven years of service, he commanded formations at every echelon. His assignments included deputy commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, director of the Army Operations Directorate at the Pentagon, chief of Army Legislative Affairs at the Pentagon and Capitol Hill, and most recently, commanding general of the famed 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell. Brian served as a rifle platoon leader in Operation Desert Storm with the 101st, and after 9/11, he went on multiple combat deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other contingency areas. He was an infantry battalion XO in the 101st during the invasion of Iraq, an infantry battalion commander in the 101st in East Baghdad, the 101st Division operations officer/CJTF J3 in Afghanistan, and brigade commander in the 1st Cavalry Division in Mosul. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge with star. Additionally, he received the Distinguished Service Medal twice, the Legion of Merit three times, and the Bronze Star Medal six times-once, for Valor. Brian holds a bachelor of science degree in history from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and a master's degree in history from LSU. He graduated from Airborne, Air Assault, and Ranger school and is a master-rated parachutist. He was a military fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and served as a Military Professor of Leadership and National Decision Making at the Naval War College. Brian has appreciated living all over the United States and experiencing diverse cultures while serving overseas. He and his wife Kimberly now reside in southeast Wisconsin, and both their daughter and their son are US Army officers.

Major General Christopher Ballard

Major General Christopher Ballard retired from the US Army in 2019, concluding a thirty-five-year career as Deputy Director of Operations at the National Security Agency (NSA). He currently serves as a strategic advisor for Jacobs. Chris commanded at the Company, Battalion, Brigade, and 2-star level. He led the 1st Cavalry Division's Military Intelligence (MI) Battalion into Baghdad, Iraq, in 2004 and deployed twice to Afghanistan as the senior Intelligence officer (J-2)-first for Combined Security Transition Command (CSTC-A) and later ISAF Joint Command. Chris similarly served as J-2 and senior Intelligence advisor to the Commander of United Nations/US Forces in Korea, where he routinely briefed US and allied leaders on North Korean military movements and intent. Chris's leadership and intelligence experience led the Army to assign him to the newly formed Army CYBER Command in 2012. There, as senior operations officer (G-3) and Director of the Army Cyber Operations Center, Chris contributed at the leading edge of Army Cyber Force design, training, and employment.

Mark A. Caron

Mark Caron has more than thirty-five years of experience with both healthcare delivery systems and health insurers. A former executive vice president, Business Platforms and Solutions & CIO at Capital BlueCross (CBC), he also served as CEO of Geneia, a healthcare services and innovation company, which is a subsidiary of CBC. Earlier in Mark's career, he was in high technology as a senior consultant with Digital Equipment Corporation and a senior systems engineer with Sun Microsystems. His expertise in business and technology now spans more forty years. Prior to joining CBC in 2011 and serving in a dual role as CEO of Geneia beginning in 2014, Mark was CIO at the Collaborative Care Division of OptumHealth. His experience includes senior leadership roles as senior vice president & CIO at BlueCross BlueShield of Wisconsin, senior vice president & CIO of Blue Cross BlueShield of Massachusetts, chief technology officer at Catholic Health Initiatives, and vice president of information systems at Healthsource. He has an MBA and a master's degree in computer information systems from Southern New Hampshire University, along with a bachelor's degree in computer science from Franklin Pierce College. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). Additionally, he is certified as a Healthcare Chief Information Officer (CHCIO) through the College of Healthcare Information Executives, and he is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS). In 2013, Mark was named by Insurance & Technology as an Elite 8 honoree. The Elite 8 recognizes the most successful and inspiring information technology executives in the insurance industry.

Mike Chibbaro

Mike Chibbaro is a former senior partner with the global consulting and advisory firm of Ernst & Young LLP ("EY") and has more than thirty years of executive leadership experience. Mike currently serves as a senior business facilitator with Battlefield Leadership, LLC. He also provides leadership consulting and executive coaching services to leading organizations and professionals. In addition to co-facilitating Battlefield Leadership's Alamo, Antietam, Cowpens, Chickamauga, Gettysburg, Little Bighorn, Normandy, and Washington's Crossing programs, Mike is a frequent speaker on the topics of leadership, organizational culture, and business ethics.

Susannah Enkema

Susannah Enkema has over 20 years of experience leading teams and developing insights for Fortune 500 clients. Susannah has consulted with many of America's top brands including Coca-Cola, MTV, ExxonMobil, National Geographic Traveler, Starbucks, Wrigley, and numerous others. She is a results-oriented marketing professional with a proven track record of success, a conceptual thinker, a skilled researcher, and an excellent communicator. Susannah has a unique acumen for new business development and maintains substantial experience in developing and launching new business platforms. Susannah is the vice president of research & insights at Shelton Group, America's leading marketing and communications agency focused on sustainability, where she directs her team in designing primary and secondary, quantitative and qualitative research projects. She is skilled at finding actionable insights and telling stories that help brands move their businesses forward. Prior to joining Shelton Group, Susannah was a partner in TechRide, LLC, and with her co-partners developed the Wright Brothers Leadership Lab. Susannah also served as the vice president of strategic planning & new business for the market research firm U30 Group, Inc. Before joining the corporate world, Susannah worked for the University of Tennessee, where she led the development of the Division I women's rowing program. She served as head coach from 1994 until 1998, competing in the inaugural NCAA Championships in 1998. Ms. Enkema is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she earned a master of science degree in cultural studies and a bachelor of science degree in political science. She is a RIVA-trained moderator. Susannah and her family live in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Timothy R. Reese

Timothy R. Reese joined the Battlefield Leadership team with 41+ years of experience as a US Army officer and defense industry business leader. During his Army career that began in 1981, Tim commanded soldiers at the platoon, company, and battalion levels in peacetime and in combat in the United States and overseas. Specializing in Russian and Soviet history, he also served as an assistant professor of history at the US Military Academy, West Point, NY. He led the first US Army tank battalion task force to enter Kosovo as part of the NATO invasion in 1999 and went on to lead the Army's Combat Studies Institute at Fort Leavenworth, KS, for three years, cowriting several works in military history, including contemporary histories of the US Army's operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a colonel, Tim twice served as an advisor to the Afghan and Iraqi militaries during the War on Terror. In his final assignment, he served as the chief of staff of the US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. Following his Army career in 2011, Tim was hired as the manager of Stryker business development operations for General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS), a global manufacturer of combat vehicles. In 2016, he was promoted to director of strategy and government relations and later became director of business development for US operations. During his 11+ years with GDLS, he was responsible for expanding the company's business portfolio into ground robotics and air defense systems, along with developing the next generation of the Abrams tank and Stryker infantry vehicle.
