Aaron performs whole building energy analysis using both ASHRAE 90.1 and Title 24 methodologies to support green programs such as ZNE, CHPS and LEED and energy incentive program Savings By Design. Using his simulation and design experience, he provides recommendations for improved building energy performance, ultra-low EUI, and lowered energy costs. He is an expert on the requirements of Title 24 Part 6, as well as the application and submission processes for Savings By Design, LEED Rating Systems and ZNE Certifications.
Additionally, Aaron has served as a Project Manager and HVAC Designer at Capital for 2 years. This experience gives him insight into the system types, control schemes, and component layouts that many simulators lack. His deep understanding of mechanical design principles and typical practices informs his simulations leading to greater accuracy and greater savings.

As Senior Project Manager of Capital's Civic and Government team, Alberto provides day-to-day "hands-on" project management experience of engineering, documentation, calculations, modeling and general project administration.
Mr. De Barrena-Sarobe has worked on a wide variety of facilities for the federal government and in the healthcare sector. He holds extensive experience with LEED and LEEN processes and principles, as well as the WELL Building Institute challenge.
Anthony, a graduate from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, joined Capital in 1991. During his 20 year tenure with Capital, Anthony manages the Civic and Justice market sectors with extensive experience in courthouse, detention, and treatment facilities, both at the county and state level. His project portfolio includes airports, offices, healthcare, university, office, data centers, central plants, laboratory, and parking structures. His work involves many different delivery methods including integrated project delivery, design-assist, master criteria engineer, and design-build.

Ashkan brings engineering principals, theoretical design, and field evaluation to the Capital team. He has extensive experience in BAS trending, troubleshooting building systems' performance, HVAC controls, building automation, mechanical equipment and systems. Since joining Capital 10 years ago, his commissioning experience has grown to encompass every facet of fundamental and enhanced commissioning under different code and program requirements such as Title 24, CALGreen, LEED, CHPS and custom commissioning. Tasks he regularly tackles include specifications, design and construction constructability reviews, writing test protocols, commissioning plan development, hands-on technical evaluations and field observation, scheduling, TAB reports and submittal reviews.

Bryan has been involved in the leadership of Capital since joining the firm in 1997. Bryan brings over 30 years of expertise in a broad array of project types and sizes including and healthcare, laboratory, central plant, office, large retail, military, energy management, hotel, and educational. Bryan is active in Lean and IPD community and is a firm leader advancing the internal development of Lean implementation and collaborative practices and in BIM development, implementation, and collaboration firm-wide.

Christopher's 30+ years of marketing experience is mostly outside the A/E/C world and brings a marketing-centric view to A/E/C marketing. He has worked for advertising agencies, non-profits and high-tech companies executing a diverse portfolio of marketing and public relations campaigns. Christopher has been with Capital since 2016 and oversees the BD team efforts in both overall strategy and tactical campaigns. As the BD Manager he helps strengthen relationships with clients and industry partners while working with principals and project managers to help them achieve their business development goals.

Jessica Hughey, EIT and MBA, has years of experience in HVAC and plumbing systems design. She has detailed experience with Title 24 compliance, energy modeling and LEED documentation along with extensive practical REVIT knowledge.
Since joining Capital in 2017, she has worked in the Civic, K-12 and Higher Education Markets on a large variety of projects on tasks such as HVAC load calculations, plumbing calculations, and equipment selection. A highlight of Jessica's tenure with Capital thus far was in taking the lead role in the HVAC design for the re-designed California State Capitol Annex.

Joe, Mechanical Engineer, has been with Capital Engineering for over 10 years. He has experience with HVAC design, plumbing design, construction administration, and commissioning work across a variety of different project types, including correctional facilities, civic buildings, schools, healthcare projects, office buildings, and hotels.
As a project manager, he is responsible for numerous technical engineering tasks like equipment selection and system design, as well as oversight and monitoring of project quality, schedules, and financials. Joe brings a strong focus on efficient coordination to his projects, and strives to provide dependability and quality to his clients.

Mr. Valencia has served as Plumbing Engineer since joining the Capital team in 2016 as part of K-12 School design team. As a Project Manager Mr. Say's thorough understanding of complex mechanical systems interaction other building systems has been an asset on the projects he has worked on. His day-to-day project management responsibilities include developing design strategies for mechanical and plumbing systems and being the lead for Capital's MEP design team on healthcare projects.

Mike was the founding principal of Stanton Engineering which merged with Capital in 2022. He now leads Capital's Urban Development Group.
Mike has 32 years of experience in the mechanical engineering field. His diverse skillset includes energy modeling, MEP estimating, value engineering analysis, constructability and coordination, commissioning services, and construction management. Mike's career has included positions as a consulting mechanical engineer, a project manager for a design/build mechanical subcontractor, and as an MEP coordinator for a large general contractor.
In addition to his experience with mixed-use, multi-family, hospitality and senior living projects, Mike has also been involved in higher education, office, healthcare and public facilities projects for new construction, remodels and campus master planning. Mike has gained broad perspective into the mechanical engineering field through his career path and his involvement in varied types of projects.

Mr. Hearn has extensive experience designing electrical systems for many types of facilities including civic, hospitals, medical offices and clinics, office, industrial, commercial, municipal, and water utility projects.
Nathan has been project manager and electrical design engineer for civic and government, new nursing homes, assisted living centers, and memory care facilities with emergency electrical distribution systems subject to NEC 517. He has performed electrical coordination studies in hospitals for modified and expanded electrical distribution systems and created Time Current Curves to demonstrate new circuit breakers for panels, subpanels, and equipment that are fully coordinated with existing upstream and downstream circuit breakers.

Plamen brings 8 years of experience in the AEC industry in his role as the Director of Design Technology at Capital. His responsibilities include implementation of BIM, IPD, and Virtual Design, plus training the staff for increased proficiency in Revit and BIM. Prior to his role at Capital, Plamen conducted training and consulting for a major Autodesk reseller and lectures at numerous events including Autodesk University, Revit Technology Conference, Ecobuild America, AUGI CAD Camp, Ideate Presents, various universities and others. He has published numerous articles at Edge Magazine and at AUGI AEC including his most recent publication of the book Mastering Autodesk Revit MEP 2013.
