CARROLL ENGINEERING - Key Persons
Bryce Carroll, Founder - In September 2015, Bryce, the founder and original owner of the firm, made the decision to hand the reigns of the business over to the familiar faces and very capable hands of Robert Henry, Matthew Martus and Philip Wootton. After surviving his battle with cancer and coming back strong, Bryce wanted more time to be able to enjoy you, our clients. Bryce is a Registered Civil Engineer with 43 years of Land Development and Public Works Engineering experience. He is enjoying his role as PR Director and can't help but jump in on an occasional project.
I officially joined Carroll Engineering in 2019. What appeals to me the most about working here is the opportunity to wear "multiple hats" and learn new things. Every project is similar enough that basic concepts apply, but different enough that concepts need to be applied specifically. I also like the tangibility of construction and seeing a completed project.
My most memorable project would have to be Westgate Church. It was my first project. Small and simple. I was new, so I still learned a lot (but not too much where it would be overwhelming).
In my free time, I enjoy video games, crafting, cooking, and needlessly researching places I may or may not ever go.
Before joining Carroll Engineering as a CAD Designer, I spent 34 years in the Civil field with the County Department of Roads. I started out on the survey crew, then an Engineering Aide, and then Head of the Engineering Design Department. I drew road and bridge construction plans by hand on mylar before technology advanced and we switched over to computer drafting! A few highlights of my career included customizing and managing our CAD system, user training, and I was on a team that created a GIS inventory and mapping of the road Right-of-Way for the entire County.
I have been with Carroll Engineering since 2016. During that time, I have participated in many different survey projects, from residential topographic and boundary surveys to school district campus improvements. I have worked on jobs all over the Bay Area, from San Francisco to Gilroy, and from Monterey to the Sacramento Valley. I take pride in the accuracy of every survey we produce.

I began my Land Surveying career with Carroll Engineering in 1998 as a Surveyor's Assistant. After two years, I left to pursue another opportunity in surveying. I worked my way up through the trade, and became a Licensed Land Surveyor in 2007. When I heard about a vacancy for a Licensed Surveyor position back here at Carroll Engineering in 2012, I eagerly accepted. Since then, I became a partner and am proud to own part of this company. Without bias, I have to say this is the best, most professional place I have ever worked.
Philip Wootton , Principal Land Surveyor - Philip had been involved at each turn in the road and continues as our Principal Land Surveyor, in addition to the role of Corporate Secretary and as part owner. However, he still prefers to be in the field from dawn to dusk than in front of a computer. Philip has over 20 years experience in the field of land surveying and has been licensed since 2008.
