DESIGN SKETCHING - Key Persons

Allan Macdonald was born in 1977 in Scotland, lives in Stockholm, and works as a senior exterior designer at Scania Trucks. He is the founder and owner of the website DesignerTechniques.com, and also works as an occasional sketching tutor in various design universities, including Umeå Institute of Design. Allan has previously worked for Volvo Trucks in Sweden and Rover cars in the UK, and holds a MDes in Transportation Design from Coventry University in England.

Erik Olofsson was born in 1978 in Umeå Sweden and lives in Auckland, New Zealand. He is currently the Art Director at Grinding Gear Games, a start-up which he co-founded in 2006. He has worked on the PC game title Path of Exile since. He graduated with a Bachelor´s Degree in Industrial Design from Umeå Institute of Design in 2005. He is the writer of Design Sketching, which he co-authored in his final year at Umeå Institute of Design (BFA degree 2005).

Klara Sjölén was born in 1980 in Sweden, lives in Stockholm, and currently works as a freelance studio engineer at Scania. She graduated with a BFA from Umeå Institute of Design 2005 and holds a separate MSc from Chalmers Institute of Technology. Klara is interested in sustainable transportation, and has previously worked for Bombardier and numerous other clients, both in industrial design and design engineer roles. She is the writer of Design Sketching and Learning Curves.
