Bill Cowern has over 30 years of experience in traffic engineering and transportation leadership. He began his career working on the "Big Dig" in Boston and then moved to Southern California where he prepared numerous traffic impact studies for development review. He recently retired from the City of Boulder following a 27 year career, in which he served as their Operations Engineer, Manager of Traffic Engineering, Deputy Director and acting Director of the Transportation and Mobility Department. Bill has a broad knowledge of municipal transportation including finding solutions to balance various travel modes within the roadway network and creating safer multimodal interactions. He is known for his commitment to service excellence, transportation safety and innovation, and collaboration with both community leaders and community members Bill obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and has also undertaken LEAD training from the University of Virginia.
