Dr. Haley received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

David L. East

Dr. David East, O.D. is an Optormetrist with a focus on full comprehensive eye exams, cataract treatment, glaucoma treatment, and LASIK co-management.

Dr. Ankur Patel

Dr. Ankur Patel is an Optometrist that practices comprehensive optometry with a special interest in treating and managing chronic disease including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and cataracts. Dr. Ankur Patel grew up in the metro Detroit area of Michigan. He graduated from the Michigan College of Optometry and completed a residency in Primary Care/Ocular Disease at the John D. Dingell VA Hospital in downtown Detroit. He practices comprehensive optometry with a particular interest in treating and managing chronic diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and cataracts. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching and playing sports, and traveling to new places.

Dr. Catherine Baston

Dr. Catherine Baston graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University. Before joining Harman Eye Center, she has worked as a comprehensive ophthalmologist in both El Paso, Texas, and Greenville, SC. She is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her areas of expertise include comprehensive ophthalmology with a particular interest in advanced cataract surgery, diabetic eye exams, and medical and laser treatment for glaucoma. Dr. Baston has over 14 years of experience in the medical field and is a welcomed addition to Harman Eye Center. She looks forward to serving our patients in our state-of-the-art Harman Eye Center clinic and surgery center. Dr. Daniel Kingsley

Dr. Daniel Kingsley is originally a native of North Carolina and earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then attended the University of Missouri St. Louis and graduated with a Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Kingsley has been practicing Optometry in Farmville, VA, since 1998. He has been located at 100 North Virginia St. Farmville, VA, since February of 2002. Dr. Kingsley welcomes all patients but has a special interest in children and patients with special needs. While not 100% fluent in Spanish, Dr. Kingsley welcomes Spanish-speaking patients. He has six children and enjoys swimming, weightlifting, and spending time with his family. Dr. Kingsley is excited to be part of the Harman Eye Center family.

Dr. David M. Harman - Founder

David M. Harman, M.D. is the founder of Harman Eye Center and Medical Director of Harman Eye Surgery Center. Dr. Harman received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Virginia and completed his residency training at the Medical College of Georgia, serving as Chief Resident. In 1988, he established his practice in Lynchburg, specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Harman is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Medical Society of Virginia, and the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society. Dr. Harman has invented instruments for eye surgery and has written peer review articles in national medical journals. He currently serves as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia. Dr. Harman has performed over 40,000 cataract surgeries and over 8,000 refractive surgeries.

Dr. Erica Bobb

Dr. Erica Bobb graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. She completed a residency in Primary Eyecare and Ocular Disease at the Thomas E. Creek VA in Amarillo, Texas, and has a passion for all things eye-related. In addition to serving the southside Virginia community and providing excellent eyecare, Dr. Bobb enjoys spending time with her family and watching sports, especially hockey.

Dr. Mark Morris

It is exciting and rewarding for Dr. Morris to learn how my patients benefit from their eye surgery and treatments. To learn that they can see their loved ones again, or can now enjoy life without dependence on their glasses is such a joy. Dr. Mark Morris is passionate about caring for his patients and their eye care needs while focusing on each individual and providing compassionate care using the latest technologies available. Dr. Morris completed his undergraduate studies at Hampden-Sydney College in 1980, where he majored in Chemistry and minored in French. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and Omicron Delta Kappa. He was active in the Hampden-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief of the Department his senior year. After graduation, he worked as a research chemist for the E. R. Carpenter Company in Richmond for two years and returned to Hampden-Sydney as a lecturer in Chemistry for one year before beginning his medical education at the University of Virginia in 1983. After graduating in 1987, he trained for one year in Internal Medicine at the Carillion Hospitals in Roanoke, Virginia. Dr. Morris' ophthalmology residency and training were completed at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. During the three-year training program, he focused on developing the clinical skills needed to practice comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr. Morris established the Halifax Eye Care Center in South Boston, Virginia, in 1991, and practiced there as a solo physician until December 2019. Together, he and his staff provided outstanding eye care to their friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens of South Boston and the surrounding counties of Halifax, Mecklenburg, and Charlotte, for twenty-eight years. Dr. Morris will provide comprehensive eye care to all of his patients: treating cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, along with external eye diseases, lesions of the eyelids, and minor oculoplastic eyelid conditions. Dr. Morris uses the latest diagnostic technologies to help him care for many complex eye conditions. His practice was the first in Southern Virginia to use the ORA intra-operative aberrometer to improve the refractive outcomes of his cataract surgery patients, especially those that were seeking reduced dependence on glasses and those patients in whom the latest multifocal lens implants were being implanted. One of the joys of my practice is helping my patients regain their sight. I have always loved seeing the smiles and hearing the excitement in my patient's voices on the morning after their surgery.

Dr. Odette Callender

Dr. Odette Callender is a board certified ophthalmologist who received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and has spent over 15 years training ophthalmology residents. Dr. Odette Callender is a board-certified ophthalmologist who received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed her ophthalmology training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. In addition to caring for patients in private practice and at the Department of Veterans Affairs, she spent over 15 years training ophthalmology residents, has numerous publications, and has lectured extensively to colleagues and the general public. Dr. Callender joined Harman Eye Center in March of 2020.

Dr. Paul Keenan

Dr. Paul Keenan, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist fellowship trained in Cornea and External Diseases of the eye. Before joining the Harman Eye Center, Dr. Keenan was a member of The Vantage Eye Care group in the Philadelphia, Pa. area. Dr. Keenan has over 28 years of experience evaluating, diagnosing, and treating various ocular and corneal conditions. Dr. Keenan graduated from Villanova University with a B.S. in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Keenan completed an internship at the Wilmington Medical Center, Wilmington, Delaware, before completing his Ophthalmology residency at the Cornell University/New York Hospital in Manhattan, N.Y., Chief Resident. In addition, he completed a Clinical Fellowship in Cornea and External Disease with the University Ophthalmic Consultants of Washington, Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Keenan has remained active teaching in multiple academic Residency training programs over the past 20 years. In addition, he has lectured at numerous academic and medical specialty meetings and served as a clinical preceptor for several residency training programs over the same period. Dr. Keenan has been published in several ophthalmic journals and has authored several book chapters. In addition, he has been named the Best Doctors in the Philadelphia area. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition, Dr. Keenan is a long-standing member of the N.Y Hospital/Cornell Medical Center Alumni Society and the American Medical Association. Dr. Keenan has served as a medical officer in the United States Navy Medical Corps, assigned with the United States Marine Corps. He served as the Battalion Surgeon, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, and as the Regimental Surgeon, 2ndMarine Regiment, and 2nd Marine Division. Dr. Keenan is an avid sports fan and enjoys following both college and professional sports and is an avid reader of books in history and sports. Lastly, Dr. Keenan and his wife, Nancy, a former elementary school teacher, enjoy travel and sports, and have a son, Paul, who works in radio in the Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware areas.

Jessie M. Pierce

Dr. Pierce received her Doctor of Optometry from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) in Worcester, MA in May 2016. She received her undergraduate degrees at Lynchburg College and Virginia Polytechnic and State University. Dr. Pierce is a native of Bedford County, Virginia and a Member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. She was Co-President of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists MCPHS University Chapter. She joined Harman Eye Center on July 1, 2016. Dr. Pierce is a member of the Virginia Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She enjoys spending time at Smith Mountain Lake and playing golf at her favorite courses.

Kevin Lowder

Dr. Kevin Lowder received his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, TX. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Louisville, where he received the Melvyn M. Koby, MD Educational Excellence Award for graduating residents. He is LASIK-certified, has presented research on refractive surgery statewide, and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery. His scope of interests includes advanced cataract surgery, comprehensive ophthalmology, diabetic eye exams, and refractive surgery.

Landon J. Colling

Dr. Colling received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Ohio State University. Dr. Colling has also conducted extensive research on keratonconus, the deterioration of the cornea, and has led several medical and ophthalmic service projects in Central and South America. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Colling joined Harman Eye Center in August of 2010.

Michael Curl

Dr. Curl received his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Dr. Curl received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Dr. Curl is a member of the Virginia Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Curl joined Harman Eye Center in August of 2006.

Michael K. Haskett

In 1985, Dr. Haskett graduated from Indiana University Optometry School and began practicing optometry in Rocky Mount, South Boston, and Hurt, VA, before permanently settling in South-Side Virginia in 1989. Presently, Dr. Haskett is practicing full-time at the Harman Eye Center of South Boston. He offers comprehensive eye health and vision exams, treatment of eye diseases, and the latest lens technology. Dr. Haskett and his wife, Ellen, have four children and reside in the Virginia community.

Peter Sheridan

Dr. Sheridan attended Drexel University, then went on to receive his doctorate degree from the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Sheridan has been providing eye care to patients for over 20 years. He has a particular interest in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular disease. Dr. Sheridan attended Drexel University, then received his doctorate from the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Sheridan is a member of the Virginia Optometric Association, the National Glaucoma Society, and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Sheridan currently sees patients at Harman Eye Center's Lovingston and Appomattox offices. Dr. Sheridan is happily married with four wonderful daughters. They enjoy going camping and playing volleyball as a family. As a teenager, Dr. Sheridan became an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.

Richard Walker III

Dr. Richard Walker III is from a small suburb of Southeast Michigan. He attended Central Michigan University and received a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2016. He completed his doctorate from the Michigan College of Optometry in 2020. After graduation, Dr. Walker completed a post-doctoral residency in Ocular disease at the Wyoming Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Walker has a passion for ocular disease treatment management and is excited to join Harman Eye Center. Besides spending time with his friends and family, Richard enjoys playing hockey, golf, and snowboarding in his free time.
