Anthony J. Reitano Jr. - Shareholder

Practice Areas Environmental Law Biography Anthony Reitano has specialized in the environmental field, first as an engineer and later as an attorney, for over 35 years. As an engineer, he addressed environmental issues for a major petrochemical company in North America and Europe. Projects included refinery catalyst handling, waste disposal, reduction and reuse, environmental audits, startup of new facilities, and troubleshooting. He currently leads the firm's environmental practice group. He has negotiated numerous commercial real estate contracts with regard to environmental issues and remediation agreements, including Brownfields agreements for investigation and remediation of hazardous substances. Mr. Reitano has been and is involved in defending agency enforcement actions, such as RCRA Permitting and Corrective Action and handling of RCRA listed wastes, CAA Title V and HAP issues, including trying such actions before Administrative Law Judges; Superfund actions, including negotiating Administrative Consent Orders and Memorandum of Agreements with state and federal agencies; and has worked with responsible parties to obtain cost-effective remediation objectives both for active sites and Brownfields. He was instrumental in negotiating one of the first United States Environmental Protection Agency Region 2 TSCA risk based cleanup approvals that was issued pursuant to the 1998 TSCA amendments. Mr. Reitano completed negotiating a first-of-its-kind remediation liability transfer agreement on behalf of a chemical company with a remediation contractor and the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and, for another manufacturing client, a unique air pollution reduction agreement. He has handled regulatory matters in states in EPA Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 9, including currently handling a Title V/PSD enforcement action in Region 5. Practice Areas Environmental Biography John McAleese's practice focuses exclusively on environmental matters. Mr. McAleese has helped corporations in such industries as energy, chemicals, manufacturing, and real estate development address their transactional, environmental compliance and litigation needs for more than 30 years. Drawing on his prior experience as a chemical engineer, Mr. McAleese is able to quickly assess risks and liabilities and offer his clients reasoned guidance based on their business objectives. In addition, Mr. McAleese has assisted clients in complying with property transfer laws such as the New Jersey Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA). When protecting clients' interests require more direct action, Mr. McAleese represents them in negotiating with environmental regulatory agencies or in defending them in civil and administrative environmental litigation. Such litigation includes cost recovery actions involving federal Superfund (CERCLA) and similar state statutes, enforcement actions, permit appeals, and environmental contamination toxic tort cases. Mr. McAleese is a graduate of New York University School of Law and has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from Villanova University. Prior to going to law school, he was a practicing chemical engineer, specializing in process control.
