INDEPENDENTWHO

Since 26th April 2007, the anniversary of the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power station, the collective has mounted a permanent, silent vigil in front of the WHO Headquarters in Geneva. Our objective is for the World Health Organisation (WHO) to fulfil its duty to protect those populations affected by radioactive contamination, and therefore, among other things, to revise the agreement that it signed with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on 28th May 1959 (WHA 12-40). This agreement makes WHO subordinate to the authority of the IAEA, the global promoter of the nuclear industry, in matters relating to ionising radiation.
