John is an experienced criminal and civil litigator representing governmental, corporate, and individual clients. Having spent most of his legal career appearing in the courtroom and advising clients on a range of policy and legal issues, John's caseload ranges from complex state and federal criminal representation to sophisticated commercial litigation.
John honed his litigation skills as a federal trial attorney and has seen the courtroom from all angles. Serving over nine years as an judge advocate in the U.S. Air Force, John held assignments around the globe as a criminal prosecutor, criminal defense counsel, civil trial attorney, and trial advocacy instructor. As a civil trial attorney, he received the Secretary of the Air Force's General Counsel Award for 2004 for his work defending a series of multi-million dollar employment class action lawsuits. He has also served as part of the national trial team for manufacturing defendants in mass tort actions in multi-district litigation, and has represented major coal companies in multi-million arbitration and contract litigation.
