MKDSA - Key Persons
Born and raised in Cape Town, Courtenay was in the Audit department since 2003 and has recently moved over to manage the Accounting department. He currently has two members in his team, but they are on the lookout for a third. As the company covers a wide variety of offerings - for individuals, trusts, closed corporations, as well as tax and UIF, and general accounting responsibilities, Countenay and his team have a lot of interesting work to keep them busy. At MKD, Countenay enjoys the close-knit family vibe, many of which are long-serving, ready to help each other easily.
Courtenay lives in Mitchelle's Plain, with his wife, a manager at Mowbray Maternity, his two small children, and their dog Whiskey, who is almost 11 years old. Courtnay enjoys gaming, mostly action, adventure, and first-person shooter narratives. He also loves reading a great fantasy novel.
As a "creature of habit", Demetri has been with MKD going on 21 years now! He enjoys the culture - describing it as a friendly, relaxed and synergetic environment. Working closely with Raymond, who has been a great and understanding mentor through encouraging his team to always be learning, Demetri has grown immensely in his role as senior accountant. He works on varying clients - from individuals, corporates, and trusts and all cradle-to-the-grave matters. Finding accounting very approachable from the very beginning, as a student, he is now starting to prefer tax matters! Demetri enjoys stretching his mind to help the client and potentially save them a lot!
Working on a large variety of duties - cradle to the grave, CCs, individual taxes, trusts, payroll, etc… Gillian has been with MKD for over 20 years. Gillian did her training, and then came on full-time as she greatly enjoys working with Raymond. He allows for a wide variety of work and promotes growth through staying up to date with industry standards and practices. Gillian works with all levels and types of clients to assist in their growth and to walk their path with them. Overall she enjoys the more relaxed approach at MKD and finds lots of guidance where necessary balanced with a hands on approach.
Gillian lives in the Steenberg area with her mother. She has found the company very accommodating to her family's needs. Gillian enjoys walking, hiking, and gardening as well as reading - namely science fiction and fantasy novels.
Raymond grew up in Paarl, in the "shadow of the winelands". As he came up to his high school years, Raymond moved to Welkom, and from there would proceed to UCT to study for a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting. Receiving his professional accountancy qualifications, Raymond founded what is now MKD with another, first trading in 1980. Raymond is currently the Principal of his Incorporated Consultancy of MKD, essentially heading up his side as the company's accounting services. Raymond believes that to do it properly, one needs to offer a full service operation; and that is exactly what his team brings to the table. "Cradle to the Grave" and everything surrounding and within this - including assisting with some auditing aspects of Stuart's side of the business, where necessary. Raymond is passionate about people and the relationships built with them to ensure their success and a true partnership of MKD. Raymond enjoys a hands-on approach to his business and encourages his team to grow and use his support when they need.
Raymond is married, with two grown children, Mika & Kiara, and two dogs, Shoko (poodle) & Levi (a mixed breed). Raymond likes to keep himself fit through running ½ marathons and he is an avid sports watcher - he enjoys soccer, rugby, tennis & cricket. Raymond reads journal articles pertaining to his field, and in his downtime enjoys all that Netflix has to offer.
Shaheeda is from Cape Town's southern suburbs, she studied bookkeeping at Damlin, and has spent 15 years crafting her skills and knowledge in the field. Shaheeda considers the accounting environment a very nice one and has always been interested in it. Shaheeda handles her department needs all on her own, as well as overseeing the billing side of the business. Shaheeda is looking forward to the company's growth and new clients, but mostly loves how long current clients have been with MKD. She enjoys the diverse company culture at MKD, feeling that people come from all across the spectrum.
Shaheeda lives in Wetton with her husband, who works in information systems, and her three children, ages 11, 8 and 7 years old, and their Persian cat Mufassa. Shaheeda enjoys socializing with friends while shopping or meeting for coffee dates. Shaheeda enjoys exploring the outdoors and spending time with her eight exotic birds - parrots, houdini birds and others.
Though born in Johannesburg, Stuart grew up in Cape Town, attending Wet Pups, Bishops and completing his studies at UCT. Stuart entered MKD as a young article clerk, and found a passion and a keen interest in heading up a smaller firm which is entrepreneurial-minded and driven. MKD represents a passion for people, their businesses and great, long-lasting relationships. Stuart, a businessman in many regards (see Bannister Group to find out more about his other endeavours), is not your average accountant - or "bean counter" as he jests. Stuart believes you cannot run a business without being dedicated to each party involved, your team and most importantly each and every client; this notion shines through MKD, inside and out.
Stuart has a son, 7 years old, whom he enjoys spending time doing fun activities with - such as karting. Stuart is an exercise enthusiast, having done over 100 marathons and countless hours on the yoga mat. Stuart is a motorsports fan, and an avid collector of classic cars, as well modern & contemporary South African art. Stuart's home also comprises their beloved Bengal cat, Jagger and a school of delightful Koi Fish.
After her studies at Stellenbosch University, Tania came to MKD for her articles and has since had 16 happy years with the firm. As the Audit Manager, Tania is a crucial part of Stuart's side of the business. Tania dutifuly allocates the work across her 4 team members, and ensures that training and articles processes are completed with as much fervor as possible. At MKD, Tania loves the feeling of being a part of the family, the love and nice personalities she works with, and how everyone takes on their role and knows their job, while also helping where possible. Overall Tania is able to work independently with the right support when needed.
Tania lives in Montevista, with her husband and their young child and baby. The Reids complete their household with four pets: a labrador named Buddy, a jack russell named Lulu, and two cats - Legend & Shelby. Tania enjoys scrapbooking, mosaic designs, exploring the wineland areas and reading a good James Patterson murder mystery.
