To address global dairy trade challenges, ICAR - NDRI continually enhances its research and human resource development programs to bolster food security, create employment, alleviate poverty, and foster economic prosperity. In 1970, NDRI was brought under the wings of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to provide greater operational autonomy to the Institute in research management functions. In 1989, it was granted Deemed University status, strengthening its academic programs for human resource development.
