I am originally from South Georgia and just recently moved back up to beautiful Northeast Georgia.
I received my undergraduate degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and my doctorate of veterinary medicine from UGA in 2021. My special interests include surgery, nutrition, emergency and critical care, and Senior pet wellness.
When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my two rescue dogs, Riley and Josie, or riding my horses.

Dr. Cecily Nieh and Dr. Douglas Nieh are both graduates of the Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine and have each completed internships at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City.
She worked alongside her husband at the same referral and specialty hospital for 4 years before transitioning into a progressive private practice in Princeton, New Jersey for 3 years. Her focuses include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, preventative medicine, and dentistry. She also enjoys working with exotics (pocket pets, snakes, birds).
Dr. Cecily Nieh's goal is to provide exceptional patient care for a reasonable price and pride themselves on being open, honest, accessible.
Dr. Douglas Nieh and Dr. Cecily Nieh are both graduates of the Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine and have each completed internships at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City.
He spent 10 years working in emergency and critical care at a 24 hr referral and specialty hospital outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
His interests include pulmonary disease, gastroenterology, nephrology, cardiology, and endocrine diseases. He has extensive experience working with complex critically ill patients and performs advanced procedures like chest tube and esophageal feeding tube placement, pericardiocentesis, chemotherapy, and electroacupuncture.
Shannon Aikens has been part of the Northeast Veterinary Hospital team since August of 2011.
She has a Bachelor's in Wildlife Biology and an Associates in Veterinary Technology. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician and has extensive experience handling exotic species from birds to small mammals to reptiles.
Shannon is a true jack-of-all-trades and performs everything from venipuncture to surgical monitoring to patient care and stabilization to the highest degree. Her primary role is focused on creating an efficient, cohesive, adaptable hospital team to create an exceptional patient and customer experience with each visit to our hospital.
