David A. Dunn

Dr. David Dunn was born and raised in the west Lynn neighborhood with four brothers. He did his undergraduate studies at Cornell University where he received his BA in Psychology in 1970. Dr. Dunn received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell in 1979. He was a member of Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society and received the Upjohn Award for Small Animal Medicine. Dr. Dunn completed an internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston and was named "Intern of the Year" from his class. He worked for a brief period at small animal practices in eastern Massachusetts before returning to Lynn to pursue his dream of practice ownership. Dr. Dunn has been in private practice since 1980. While he and his wife were raising their family, he established the North Shore Animal Hospital and opened the doors in 1982 as a solo practice. Since then the practice has grown with the addition of multiple doctors and staff members. In 1988 a new building at 1 Neptune Blvd was completed. The new hospital allowed for more equipment and technologies to utilize the most recent advances in veterinary diagnostics, medicine, and surgery. Dr. Dunn received the 1999 Humane Award from the Animal Rescue League of Boston presented for "Generosity, care and selfless acts of kindness towards animals". He has a special interest in trauma cases and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Dunn has two children, both veterinarians, 3 grandchildren, two dogs and two cats. When not at work Dr. Dunn enjoys traveling to anywhere warm, scuba diving, his grandchildren and his best dog Olive.
